I had my first ever mention on a Spanish online radio/podcast show tonight. I'm feeling very "international" 😊 Esta noche me han mencionado por primera vez en un programa de radio o podcast online español. Me siento muy "internacional" 😊
With moonward fist measured steps I make to silence the voice that delights in pity
“ Padre no es el que fecunda , sino el que cría “ . Es una de las tantas frases relacionadas con la responsabilidad paternal , aunque la frase o el refrán en si mismo, describe una de las características en las que la figura masculina tristemente se ha caracterizado, en no hacerse responsable de sus propios actos ....
The fox continues to prowl around our chickens. This morning we caught it in the GARDEN a few feet from our favourite chicken. Luckily the magpies warned us and we were able to scare it away. It's not nice keeping the little cluckers cooped up in this heat, but needs must unfortunately. Thanks for reading this post...
McGonagall, thou shouldst be living at this hour...'Twas in the year twenty twenty-six, on the twenty-second day of June – Which many political commentators and others said was not a day too soon –That the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, stood outside 10 Downing Street and announced his resignation To the...
There is nothing like waking up on a Monday morning in the UK and finding out that there is to be yet another Prime Minister. It was no surprise, of course; the media knew all about it beforehand and so did DJT. Meh! The UK population has become as ungovernable as our French neighbours. Blame Brexit and let’s all...
TALKIN SHIT (Oh no, two blog posts in one day what has happened to me) I-guess-this-is-just-gonna-be-a-format-I-use-from-now-on photography
For some reason my family has phenomenally crappy luck with Macbooks. Our second one in three years just died, right as my wife was needing to put together some slides with it. The thing is completely and utterly unresponsive, suffering the same mysterious fate as its predecessor three years ago. But that’s a story...
What happens if I just point a git server at an object storage bucket? Back when I was porting agent sandboxes to Go, I built everything on top of billy, a filesystem abstraction for Go. The whole trick of the project was teaching a Tigris bucket to act enough like a filesystem that a shell interpreter and its tools...
一座是 Bath Bradford-on-Avon 的 Saxon Church of St Laurence，另一座是 Bristol 的 Clifton Cathedral。 Bradford-on-AvonSaxon Church of St Laurence Holy Trinity...
emmaburnett.uk via bookshop.org It’s been two weeks since my novella was released, and the actions of my publisher, and the online response this has generated, have made it impossible for me to market my book. From what I can tell, the whole project has tanked.Emma is a friend of Foofaraw and is an absolutely...
Last month I visited Uruguay for the second time since I moved out. The first time I visited I took my German boyfriend, who also wanted to trade a winter month for a summer one, and spent most of the time introducing him to everyone and showing him around in what I sometimes call a nostalgia tour. I am proficient...
We were sitting on the front porch when Casey noticed a bloom drop and snapped a photo of me with it.Currently Listening: Mon Laferte, St. Vincent “While I'll Keep Writing Songs for You”Reply via email
Meta — the same company that declared in 2021 that by now you’d be living in the “metaverse” — sold a few million camera glasses for pervs and, all of a sudden, the next future envisioned by Mark Zuckerberg’s unhinged mind is one where we all walk around wearing camera glasses powered by “artificial intelligence.”...
Over the past few months, I’ve spoken to people across a variety of companies, and one thing has become quite obvious: with today’s tooling, employees are eager and able(!) to build their own applications. Whether it’s a small script to automate a tedious task or a full-fledged web application to solve a very...
James of the Coffee blog fame made a fun quiz, and I expected to know the result. It surprised me with a second one 😀 You are a Author You love writing and have a growing backlog of posts on your website! Words are your best friend and you're always thinking about what to write next. You are also a Explorer To you,...
I took a gamble on some Noctilucents reappearing last night with a 40 minute drive out to the coast, and then a 20 minute walk to find a clear view of the Northern horizon. There is never any guarantee the clouds will show up, but I have read many reports that the summer solstice brings more activity. I'm not really...
I’ll leave it to Ed Davey, of all people, to sum up what I think. “The British people are sick of being let down by an endless merry-go-round of prime ministers while nothing really changes,” Davey writes on X.“This time must be different. It can’t just be about changing who’s in Number 10, it has to be about...
Warum...
There’s a steep hill at the end of the block that goes through a park with a nice view of the city. It’s the equivalent of about six blocks long. At one time, I would be huffing and puffing by the time I got to the top. If my wife was with me, I would jokingly tell her to leave me for dead. But after a few months of...
“Publication differences by gender are small or statistically undetectable during graduate study, but become more pronounced by graduation and especially by the time of first permanent hire…. Teaching portfolios appear broadly similar across gender groups in terms of overall volume, though there are some suggestive...
Laurel Hill State Park Trip: 58 Nights: 191-193 Last weekend was the annual Aliner Ascape rally, which has settled at Laurel Hill State Park near Somerset, PA. We missed last year when my career blew up 3 weeks before the camp out, so it was great to get back this year to see old friends and a make new ones. The...
A collection of links found around the web. This time we have three sections, inspiration to do things – things that have inspired me to do something, visual niceness – things that I enjoyed looking at, and creative play – things that remind us that we’re human. Inspiration to Do Things Make Believe by Robin Rendle,...
The Oculus Go was Oculus’ (now Meta) first attempt at a standalone virtual reality headset. Indeed, it was one of the first commercial attempts at a standalone VR headset entirely. By contemporary standards, it is extremely obsolete, though not completely useless. It can still run a range of software designed for it...
Consistency serves a purpose in visual design, but it seems to have become the purpose of a lot of visual design. Look no further than these evolutions of macOS icons (image courtesy of BasicAppleGuy): The Creator Studio icons are undeniably consistent visually: rounded rectangles, controlled gradients, simplified...

You’re forgiven if you assumed 58 Joralemon Street was just another beautifully restored Greek Revival row house in Brooklyn Heights. Built in 1847, it resembles many of the elegant single-family houses on the block, with its red brick facade, long windows, and brownstone trim around the entryway. But take a closer...
A couple of days ago I thought I had history working well in the Gemini client I'm working on; I was wrong. It worked, but the more I used it the more I felt it wasn't quite right. The main problem was I had a single history structure that served both the navigation history (moving backwards and forwards) as well as...

Thanks to James over on the Coffee Blog for this pure noughties nostalgia quiz — Blogger Archetype Quiz. I answered the ten simple-ish questions and was duly informed of my archetype; shared below. What I love about these quizzes, as I have said before, is discovering the similarities between people of such...
This blog is moving to another domain Please update your feeds.Hyde and Kev wrote about their dislike for summarize-option provided by LLM agents in almost all popular software and search engines. I completely agree with them. Although, their focus is on online writing and privacy, I see the same problem when...
I’ve had the Xteink X4 for a couple of months now, a £40 e-ink reader small enough to stick to the back of a phone. I’d seen a few posts about it (Khairul Selamat, Neil Brown, joelchrono, and moddedbear among them), so I got curious and ordered one. First impressions Out of the box, the X4 is lightweight, properly...
I wanted to visit TVC to monitor the construction of the house and help Kiran set up the fiber backbone for internet connectivity. TVC is roughly 90 kms from MG Road. It’s a good distance with a variety of road conditions to test my Yamaha and see how it performs over a long distance. If it can do 200+ Kms in a day,...
AutoDescriptor: Added page description via AutoDescriptor bot I recently came upon an article that [https://manualdousuario.net/en/smart-glasses-ugly-tacky/ pretty much argued that Meta Glasses are uncool things made by uncool people]. That's a fair complaint about the devices. They're quite clunky and so on. And...
In part two of today's big change, I brought a whole subtree of the interactive directory out into its own page. With this, the linklog and static bookmarks are perfectly balanced in size, and much easier to handle. More improvements to come.
Troubleshooting Technical ErrorsYesterday, my Indiekit docker failed to start on my Pi. I also couldn’t run npm audit fix despite reviewing and accepting npm approve-scripts --all. As a beginner Node.js user, I am still very inexperienced. I tried removing the package.lock, node_modules/ and npm install from scratch...
Since we’re talking about pixel art, in this 30-minute video, Stuart Brown known as Ahoy embarks on recreating an illustration called Four-Byte Burger: The original picture was created by artist Jack Haeger on an influential computer Commodore Amiga in 1985, on prototype software that “was in such an early stage of...
