"Officiali alle Rason Vecchie e Rason Nuove" from the L’Archivio di Stato di Venezia: indice generale, storico, descrittivo ed analitico (1937) by Andrea da Mosto
This post is a part of my word-vomit series. Feel free to skip it.It has been almost a month since I wrote the last—the ninth one—word-vomit post. I posted two word-vomit posts consecutively the last two days and restarted the series. Right now I do not want to promise anything, but the plan is to finish it with...
U is for Ultralisk I don’t talk about starcraft. Its one of my favorite games and I absolutely love playing zerg. I don’t care how much ive lost. But there is something about being the swarm. Being the obviously the most adaptable of the species, I loved playing the race. However, when starcraft 2 kicked off years...
I'm trying out a new post type: Writing about individual things that I own. To avoid writing "product reviews", I will only write about things that I've consistently used for more than one year. Instead of the excitement that comes with newly bought things, I want to focus on my relationships with these objects and...

If you only use social media and video hosting frontends - getting fed by algorithms and visiting the same 5 sites everyday on constant doomscroll, then the internet has never been alive for you. That experience is perhaps ~3-5% of what the internet could be. For the vast majority of people, yes - the internet is...
I needed to convert file status flags between operating systems yesterday. They are the values you pass as the second argument to open – O_NONBLOCK, O_NOATIME, O_SYNC, O_DSYNC, and so on: int open(const char *path, int flags, /* mode_t mode */ ); So naturally I wrote it like this: int dst_flags = 0; if (src_flags &...

I collect cool, interesting links spread all over the web and share them here in daily posts. Hope you enjoy! More of them in the archive. Anthropic is thinking about removing Claude Code from its cheapest plan, The New Stack. This may be the first indication of the “Uber moment” of AI: when companies cease the...
We finished Season 2 for Fallout last week. SPOILERS ahead, don’t read if you care.—-------------------------------------------------------------Season 2 was pretty solid. I think we were a few episodes in before my wife asked about a specific character arc and I told her I didn't have an answer because they don’t...
All of these people saying that Formula 1 is now like Mario Kart. I don’t think they played the original on the SNES; that was proper racing. There was none of this ‘blue shell’ malarkey and artificially being faster just because you’re at the back. I think we need to get more specific with the metaphor. “Formula 1...
… everything. I need to know less, but I know more. Trying to cultivate a life which allows me to know less while still participating in society requires me to know more and do more than simply laying back and passively allowing the unending flood of information to drown me. Please note that we are all being...
I haven't written here in a while, mainly because I haven't been playing as much tennis. I do want to get outside again, and the weather is finally getting better. But as I mentioned before, I won't be competing as much this year, because I have so many other interests and things I like to do. This year will be...
It’s dredging season again in Oceanside. Thankfully they kept the harbor beach clear so we have space for ultimate frisbee. The pier beach is a mess but I’ll admit the machines are kinda cool. Hopefully the sand decides to stay on the beach this year rather than blocking the harbor.
Bubbles mostly seems to be a place to vote for blog posts about Bubbles. (I kid, of course. It looks nice and I’ve bookmarked it.) Reply by email
Not much action today, but I wanted to see few things. I mostly did some maintenance work on my character today, buying skills and such. But there has been few things in Jita I wanted to see. Space elevator! Jita has a pretty neat space elevator located near the main trading hub, so I actually spent the time to fly...
Denise Weinberg as Tereza in The Blue Trail Some thoughts on two recent Brazilian cinema outingsTwo of my favourite films this year so far are from Brazil—The Blue Trail, and The Secret Agent. Both feature individuals on a similar journey, in that they are desperately trying to escape the tyrannical grasp of a...
This is the first time I’m using my new Pi Docker version of the Indiekit Micropub server while I’m out! Wrote about my journey in the latest weeknote if you’re interested. And tomorrow is another IndieWeb Homebrew Website Club; where I’ll be a stand-in moderator for the first time. 😊 The more, the merrier—I’d love...
Abstract Recent work by Quattrociocchi et al. (2025) identifies seven “epistemological fault lines” separating human from artificial cognition, claiming humans perform “genuine evaluation” while AI systems structurally cannot perform operations like uncertainty monitoring and judgment suspension. This paper...
I’ve long had a soft spot in my heart for the 1998 movie “Practical Magic”, and what with news that there’s a sequel coming up later this year, with all four of the main actresses reprising their roles, paired with some insomnia, I decided to give it the old re-watch, just to see what I thought of it now. Beware:...
If you have perused any of my previous writing, it may be evident to you that I am a list maker. I recently wrote a post about using caution with “life lists,” but that doesn’t stop me from making them. I was recently clearing out clutter in the notes app on my phone and came across a list entitled, “New Rules.” It...
The headline is about coaching baseball, but let us start elsewhere. Past Basketball Coaching Dreams There was a time when I was a kid that I wanted to be a basketball coach. That time passed. In the end, I never undertook any effort to pursue basketball coaching as a profession, much less coached a game myself. The...
I can finally update my ancient WarGames reference – turns out the computers on the TV show The Pitt are also preprogrammed to show the right things on the screen regardless of what the actors are actually typing. But you still need to flail your fingers in vaguely realistic ways, so the actors in this...
In all honesty, this is basically just another post to talk about games I haven’t finished yet but that have been very fun, so I just want to go on a quick ramble about how good they have been so far. Some are on hold but still worth bringing up, and some I started over—after abandoning them for years—all of a...
Nearly missed this, staying focused can be tricky, to say the least, at times like these. The book crawl was established just last year by Federico Lang, who works at Librería Luces, an independent bookstore in the Spanish city of Málaga. I’m told this year about one-hundred-and-fifty Australian booksellers are...
You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.~ Franz Kafka
I like to walk quickly. One of my childhood friends did, too. Whenever I reflect on the pace at which I walk, I think of the times when we tried to walk as fast as possible. My friend was much more athletic than I – with longer legs, too – so they often had the edge in walking speed. I loved trying to be quick...
Replied to The Cat Phone Came Back by Dan Lewis (Now I Know) If you grew up in the 1980s, there's a decent chance you had a novelty telephone in your home — one shaped like a football, a hamburger, or perhaps a cartoon character. Dan Lewis’ April 21, 2026 “Now I Know” newsletter covered the subject of Garfield (the...
In which I challenge myself to draw a pokemon every day until I stop Alright alright catching up. Sun 04/19/2026 - Jumpluff The first time I ever heard anything about this pokemon was in the Great Gundam Project episode (189, a benefit of them doing this numerical bit is that it's easy to find) where Jackson tries...
2026-04-22Limited permission was granted to use photos taken for these events on this site.Hello! The event went well! I organized a photo walk with a school club, and we took photos of flowers, leaves, and the sky.I didn't take this photo myself; I gave my camera to one of the participants who was really excited to...
I recently got to explore the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh, PA and had a wonderful time inside the Riverstone Books location there. This shop is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the street and is worth popping in. My absolute favorite part were all of the Staff Recs. While there were … Continue...
Born into a world with no clocks, telescopes, microscopes, or democracy, Ḥasan Ibn al-Haytham (c. 965–c. 1040), known in the West as Alhazen, began his life studying religion, but grew quickly disenchanted by its unquestioned dogmas and the way it turned people on each other with the self-righteous fist of zealous...
Imagine you want to learn computational physics and Python as an advanced high-school student or undergraduate. Where to start? Assuming no prior programming experience, a quick introduction to programming concepts won’t go amiss. To get to that point, though, you’ll need to prepare some tools first. In this post, I...
I mean isn’t it a totaly adult and viable decision to directly buy a tech thing after you read a bunch of blogs writing about it? Yeah, absolutely :) And as some of the Podcasts I listen also mentioned this one I was sold. As you can see on Bubbles how this is really in everyones “mouth” in the last days. What the…...
The other day I posted about cybersecurity concerns around Anthropic’s Mythos. Bloomberg, Anthropic’s Mythos Model Is Being Accessed by Unauthorized Users A small group of unauthorized users have accessed Anthropic PBC’s new Mythos AI model, a technology that the company says is so powerful it can enable dangerous...
Ejemplo...
When I started this blog I only had a vague plan, really more of an idea of a plan, to do some daily writing to get back into the groove of writing and to slowly work on the website. So really mostly for myself and to build up to something decent some day. What I did not expect was for anyone to show up, especially...
Blogging Hiatus? Quick update since I realized I haven't blog in a while. I still use my website. A lot. I just haven't been writing. I have been drawing, learning Japanese, cataloguing my dreams and books, reading (Dune is amazing again!). So basically all other side projects. But loving it! I will blog when I feel...
Recently I've had an odd problem with Emacs: occasionally, and somewhat randomly, as I wrote code, and only when I wrote Emacs Lisp code, and only when working in emacs-lisp-mode, I'd find that the buffer I was working in would disappear. Not just fully disappear, but more like if I'd used quit-window. Worse still,...
As I have been preparing slides for my coming talk at foss-north on April 28, 2026 I figured I could take the opportunity and share a glimpse of the current reality here on my blog. The high quality chaos era, as I call it. No more AI slop I complained and I complained about the high frequency junk submissions to...

Ocarina of Time is one of those games that gets talked about so much that I’ve sort of always felt like a fake gamer for never finishing it, even nearly 30 years after release. That changed last weekend and I would now like everyone to acknowledge that I am, in fact, a real gamer. I played it on Steam Deck with the...
[ The video will be recorded. ] This is a spontaneous live stream. The stream starts in ~20 minutes. I will continue maintaining my packages. My plan is to start with Denote and then move to TMR. Depending on how I do, I will check some of my other packages as well.
April 2026. Wragby. Lincolnshire. Your actual new Wragby Beer Guide pub isn’t a classic, but then the Lincolnshire Wolds aren’t renowned for classics. Prove me wrong. But you do get this extraordinary piece of art in the garden of the Adam & Eve, which bears a striking resemblance to Ali & Nino in Mrs RM’s new...
