Paul McCartney’s aging voice should matter when deciding to see him live, the experience of witnessing a living legend outweighs it.
On day 4 in the Schwarzwald, we skipped hiking to explore the Landesgartenschau, a vast regional garden show spreading 8 kilometers between Freudenstadt and Baiersbronn. Despite a brief rain shower and many visitors, the themed gardens in full bloom offered a splendid experience that felt like a unique kind of hike.
At Evangelical Colleges, A Revival of Repentance – The New York Times (1995): Students at evangelical colleges are embracing a revival calling them to repent. “We haven’t seen a student revival since the Jesus movement days of the late 60’s and early 70’s,” said the Rev. John Avant, pastor of a Baptist church in...
It’s been a punchy week. We saw a genuine crypto breakthrough from Signal, a flurry of high-severity patches across browsers and Cisco, and a policy change in Washington that could chill threat-intel sharing. Extortion crews are probing SaaS and supply chains, and ransomware continues to hit operations. For MSPs and...
“Mistake” is another word for a working draft we are unable or unwilling to revise, a draft that stands at odds with the story we wish to tell about who we are and what we want. It is a judgment one part of us lashes on another. To indict as having chosen poorly what we once chose willingly is to renounce and...
Notes Introduction Page 23 @ 04 October 2025 10:47:30 PM Yes, home they went, and all things beautiful, All things high they took with them, All colours, all the sounds of life, And for us remained only the de-souled Word. Torn out of the time-flood, they hover, Saved, on the heights of Pindus. What shall live...
"I don't think I'm going to make it" I said to Casey at the top of the Ferris wheel, my eyes wide and pallor drained. The speed of the spin caused our gondola to rock back and forth at the apex. (I survived and took a bunch of photos at the pop-up canival.)
Seen in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, in 2025: A Christmas countdown clock counting down from 86 days.
I was hanging out with some acquaintances when I brought up that I had a birthday recently. The woman I was talking to asked how old I was. I told her I was 40 and then braced myself for the inevitable “Dayum, I didn't know you were that old!" reaction I get from people. But instead, she didn't say anything. She...
Weeknote #13, I’mma pluck ‘em, yay. This had to be his most, unlucky lucky day. Life Notes This was one of those weeks that felt two months long. But, hey, we made it! Some Links Worth Sharing How to Be a Good Literary Citizen (in Seven Easy Steps) The Danger of Stoic Sadism: I’d seen this “broic” philosophy taking...

Some meta-commentary on reading: I’ve been trying to read through my enormous queue of articles saved on Instapaper. In general I love reading stuff from the internet but refuse to do it with a computer or a phone: I don’t want all my stuff to glow! So, this led me to an abortive trial of the Boox Go 7, an eReader...
The second round of how to jailbreak Microsoft Surface RT or 2 (Tegra ARM 32 processor) and install Linux, with Raspberry Pi OS based on Bookworm and upgrading to Trixie. Using Yahallo, Golden Keys and Open Surface RT.
The term "squidgy portamento" appears in this week's run down of new music.
Half way and I'm starting to struggle. A lot of political details involving many many names mentioned once. It's dragging a lot to introduce a new turn of plot every chapter. So every chapter introduces a new discovery and a lot of political and theological debates around them. It is a reflection of its time. But...
Kyoto, 1992.A group of developers leaves Video System and form Psikyo[1]. It would go belly up a decade later. During that time they would release a series of shoot'em ups (as well as puzzle, fighting, action games, and, of course, erotic mahjong games) before being bought and merged with X-nauts. The games were...

Back in July I tried a service called NINA that aimed to bring back ICQ, AIM, MSN Messenger, AOL and a few other internet services from the 90s and 2000s. I registered an ICQ number and chatted with a few people and it was fun. Now it's gone. The last time I logged into the ICQ number I had registered there was a...
Phew, barely made Bandcamp Friday. Thanks, time zones! The title translates to “Everybody knows that it’s gonna be fucking cold in winter” and comes from Pascow’s song Gottes Werk und Teufels Beitrag. Observing how both temperature and public dicourse get more and more frosty here in Germany, this line works in more...
Did you know that I once had ambitions of being a tech blogger? Before I came to be a Linux content creator, I had several blogs that “covered” technology and gadgets. I even started a podcast about Tech and such with my friends. We still do that podcast to this day, but we now just review movies. I really loved the...
I originally heard of zizmor at FOSDEM 2025: zizmor is a static analysis tool for GitHub Actions. It can find and fix many common security issues in typical GitHub Actions CI/CD setups. One month later, I adopted it in the most important repos of our company. A few months later, I added it to the Alpine Linux...

September 2025. Sale. My new GBG pub in Sale was unexpectedly closed (“hope to be open by 4”, they said), so an hour to get to the soul of Sale. If there was a local TIC, they could have that for a pint of Holt. We decided to loiter for an hour, despite a less… Continue reading GETTING TO THE SOUL OF SALE

Apparently the way I treat my butter means that society labels me! Let's roll back to last weekend — we had the out-laws staying with us. (My Other Half's sisters, niece, and great-nephew). It turned out to be a lovely weekend, although 'weekend' itself needs redefined as it was actually from Thursday evening...
I like to test AI image and video generation tools with this prompt. It's very effective.

Rambling thoughts and memories of my first two eReaders, the Kindle Keyboard and Kindle Voyage
We are in Thrissur and will be here for some time. The drive from Bengaluru was comfortable and good. We left at 2:10 AM and reached our destination at 10:25 AM, covering approximately 500 km in 8 hours, including brief stops. I think that’s a very good average on Indian roads. I was... This is a caricature of how I feel mechanical keyboard switches are being marketed these days. I do not mean to judge anybody and I am having a good time learning about all the options out there, while typing on my boring Cherry Black switches. Have fun! XGF Mixed Signal buttery and coarse switch XGF have done it...
