I co-produced, mixed and mastered Rythur's debut album. He's a friend from the US, currently living in Colorado. <a href="https://rythur.bandcamp.com/album/alien-pop">Alien Pop, by Rythur</a> Today's the day I met Rythur online on the fediverse some time ago, where we quickly bonded. His awesomely quirky (to me)...
It was a vivid dream. I saw my own baby in the womb as if I were watching him/her live in a 3D scan. However, the feeling was not of a mechanistic view on a screen, but of a real presence. I was there right next to the baby as if it was floating in a transparent film made of jelly like substance. I do not know the...
I can't remember much from when I read this so long ago. But some things I'm noticing, how people deal with immortality while in my head the fact that you can transplant consciousness is almost impossible. But in this universe, being highly materialistic, it is. And that memories equal consciousness. But at the same...
It is 13:15 BST, 17/09/2025 at Stansted Airport, London. There, you'll find me: one small Daniel in a really big world. I'm drenched in sweat; anxious droplets form a nervous sheen across my face, reflecting an array of concerned glances. I shrink down towards my bag and desperately fiddle with the straps, masking a...
Running since 2020 I believe, this year’s Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival is on from Friday 3 October until Sunday 5 October 2025, at Event Cinemas, on George Street, in Sydney’s CBD. Eleven features will be screened, with many having their Australian premieres. One title, The Eagle Obsession, trailer, a...
Check out As in guillotine... for more. Medium's core pitch is heavily mission-driven, creating a big tent for a wide range of writers and writing goals — but it's tied to a BHAG that reminds you of their origination and very troubled history. Medium Thoughts, after Medium Day, by Guy LeCharles Gonzalez, was...

I haven't heard about C# and the .NET framework for years. It's probably still being used to churn out ugly Windows applications by sleepy suits at business factories. I bet there are still a few equally stuffy Java developers around, maintaining legacy enterprise applications at Oracle and IBM and what-have-you....

The inner critic is that voice of ours that reminds us of the standards we set for ourselves. Those may be of our own making or forced upon us by the role we assume in society. Whatever their origin, standards serve a normative function: to judge what we have against what we ought to have. Having such a critic is a...
I came to this show an Indigo Girls fan and left just as smitten with Melissa Etheridge. + 9 photos
This was a previously published short story. Listen to the audio version here Introduction. We all have writing that we look back on and think, hmm, this was fun, but it didn't age well. This story features subtle psychological abuse. In a way, it mirrors what I went through. The only difference is, I didn't have a...
What do you do if you are a huge fan of Obsidian, but want to use a text editor instead of the application interface? By operating in the terminal you will lose some of the quality of life features, particularly autocomplete for references and tags that Obsidian brings to the table. markdown-oxide is a plugin that...

We are idiots. But maybe we're slowly getting better. Earlier this year, we moved to New York City. I wanted to try working in an office again. Both of us yearned for walkability, bikeability, more restaurants, more culture, easy access to music venues, and public transit. NYC is one of very few places in the USA...
Late at night, I laid awake, fixated on the ceiling of my dorm. Before going to bed I'd just seen a post of my high school crush with a friend, roommate, or whatever, at a concert. Just the two of them. This wasn't her first post of its kind. I think what I've really wanted all along was just one close friendship....
Escaping the Build TrapHow Effective Product Management Creates Real ValueAuthor: Melissa Perri This was the first book on Product Management I’ve ever read, and I’m glad I started with such a solid one. In my daily work, I collaborate closely with product owners, and I wanted to better understand their role: How do...
Most of my comments here are US-centric, but apply to other countries I've grown up in, too. Below are some things that shouldn't need to be said, but for some reason, we do. Transgender people deserve to exist. This conquest against transgender people is merely a "common enemy" of ideologies only capable of uniting...

Una de las configuraciones mas fáciles de olvidar es la de que Postfix envía al destinatario la dirección IP del remitente. It's not every day that you get to mark the centenary of someone still living – but today is the 100th birthday of the still very much alive broadcaster, actor and DJ Pete Murray (born Peter Murray James). His father was a Great War veteran who was injured in a gas attack at the Somme, and Murray claims to have been...
I have not often talked publicly about my health, and when I do, I generally don’t give many details. This is partly because I prize my privacy, and partly because there’s a lot of stigma when people talk about the things that hurt them and set them apart, from depression and burnout to chronic illness […]
In furniture antique means at least a hundred years old but in the world of phones I’m seeing the word “antique” being used for all pulse dialing phones. Mine is 50 years old, it’s an Ericsson Dialog rotary dial phone. How? Via Bluetooth to a cellphone. Is this eco friendly? Nope, it’s another wallwart + the...
Collecting stories, reflections, and ideas from pursuing the master in Experimental Publishing (XPUB), in Rotterdam. Prologue On November 7st 2024 I was aimlessly wandering around nettime-l emails, looking for some motivation and inspiration as I was very sad and unsatisfied with AISS, the master that I was doing at...
Install Linux on a Microsoft Surface Pro, Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Mint, SuSE, Arch, or even Gentoo is supported. Installing is pretty easy on a Surface Pro, and most Surface Pro editions are supported. The process is a lot easier than installation on a Surface RT.
This is a common question. Here are things to consider when selecting a new one. As a starting point, you can use Healthgrades.com to do an initial search for internists in your area. Some links don’t call for a full blog post, but sometimes I still want to share some of the good stuff I encounter on the web. Maria Ressa talks with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show・A video featuring Maria Ressa and Jon Stewart is bound to be brilliant, but this one is especially quotable and bookmark-worthy. The...
DefectorThat Johnson eventually chose the Bears sent a clear signal: This is the job he wanted above all others, one that would allow him to prove himself against his old team and division rivals and establish himself as a top head coach in the league.Anyone willingly choosing to
My fascination with shmups continues, I haven't played Silksong yet, nor will I be playing the new Shinobi game...UpdatesI put my all into Sea of Stars. It is excellent, a beautiful homage to many RPGs of the 16- and 32-bit era. Visually, it is gorgeous, and so is the music. I recommend it to anyone wanting to play...
