Lately I've been thinking about really fun solutions. You know, those solutions which use some insight you were completely unaware of and make it all look like magic. It's been more than once that I've found myself stumbling into something called combinatorics when trying to learn more about them. On the way to...

Some weeks ago Oliver from Pixel Pioneers asked me: "How did you come up with the idea for your upcoming Pixel Pioneers talk, and what can we expect to take away from it?". This is my answer: Around two years ago I realised that I was feeling a lot of decision paralysis when building brand new shiny projects from...

Bookmarked: Utah Lawmakers Say Gender-Affirming Care Harms Kids. Their Own Study Disputes That. Policies that prevent access to hormone therapy for minors cannot be justified based on scientific findings or concerns about potential regret in the future, the report states. The agency is not taking a position on...

If we're not careful, joy is like that tender shoot covered by last season's dead leaves. ¶ Chili at night time has become one of the satisfying foods on our new diet. Fills the bill. ¶ First time in many moons the magazine has arrived in the mail. (Only one I get that way anymore.) Good of it, since this issue is...

As promised, I printed it in transparent PETG.... And it looked terrible. Somehow the internal support is more visible than the holes I was trying to show, which instead got clogged up. Oh well. I will stick with my Blue PLA one.

Over the past 17 years I've been working in IT, I've had the opportunity to work in many different roles and companies. I started out as a systems administrator at a digital agency, working on ColdFusion, MS SQL, Linux and VMware. I then transitioned to a role where I had to work a lot with the Microsoft stack,...

For a long time, I’ve been searching for a planning methodology that fits my life. I delved into bullet point journals, to-do lists, daily notes, and the Obsidian rabbit hole. None of them worked. I followed some for months, but never felt like they fit into how my brain and life work. Until I created my own system,...

powRSS.com is a public RSS feed aggregator with a mission to make the independent web discoverable. Earlier today Alex White reached out with a great new feature idea for powRSS: Random idea I had, with all the sites you collect as people submit, could be cool to have a “random site” feature like StumbleUpon did....

Using PyInfra to provision and set-up servers and Raspberry Pi systems, as well as workstations. Using Linux and Python to automate the updating and control of docker containers, required packages, and other dependencies for any system that a server or workstation might need.

Updated the RSS feed to include the post content.

Since I stopped spending much time on commercial websites and more time exploring the blogs on IndieWeb platforms, I have developed a type and a preference for the kinds of blogs I like. There's plenty to choose from. I like tech but not too much techFor better or worse, it takes a fairly technical person to get...

Ten years ago, Apple’s Phil Schiller surprised Apple enthusiasts and developers by walking out on stage at John Gruber’s The Talk Show Live WWDC event and giving an open, human, honest interview to a somewhat jaded community. I wrote this in response: Both Apple and Phil Schiller himself took a huge risk in doing...

A mission post by Lieutenant JG Sean Morgan, Lieutenant Weho Lape Sabril, Ensign Miles Archer Mission - Let's Do The Timeloop Again Even though he'd sung a totally different song than previous loops, and with Pond this time too, the short conversation in the mess with Sabril had gone largely the same. Sean hadn't...

Auditions - 4 📹Self Tapes - 4 🤝In Person - 1 of those auditions... 🏷️Adverts - 3 🎭Theatre - 1 📺TV - 1 Lots more adverts this month, which I don't really mind. The opportunity is always great, and the situations are usually strange enough that filming them is a fun process in and of itself. Honestly though, it has...

In this post, I'll provision and configure the staging infrastructure for my blog, which is a Rails application. This includes installing and setting up a PostgreSQL database server, allowing connections only from the Rails application server, and locking it down by disabling direct public access.
