Reading Federico Viticci’s fantastic iOS & iPadOS 26 review, I had a tiny quibble about one thing, and it’s something many other people who discuss the new iPad multitasking system said recently: the notion that “Apple added Mac windowing, unchanged, to the iPad”. Window management now works “exactly how it does on...
To be noticed like midday's fata morgana at the high seas To be felt like the mountaineer's awe at an open vista Such is the unlikely outcome that inspires a man to work the land on a quiet evening
sebelum mencoba aplikasi-aplikasi aneh di luar sana, mungkin kita harus coba dari aplikasi bawaan lebih dulu.

Matt Novak, writing at Gizmodo on October 22: President Donald Trump is currently demolishing the East Wing of the White House in one of the more shocking acts of his second term. Trump plans to build an enormous $250 million ballroom in its place, a structure that will dwarf the existing White House. But who’s...
I recently made a post titled second person birds. It was a bit of an experiment, focusing a lot more on photography than I had on my blog in some time. I enjoyed it so much that I took some of the photos there, added some more and made a zine! This little zine is […]
With my VPS expiring in December, I needed to find a new home for my Jellyfin server. I no longer need my VPS — the price to renew it has doubled and I can no longer justify the cost. It has to go. I used to run all sorts on there but have slowly scaled back to doing things a little more smarter and yes, slower! I’m...
For the web to be more democratic, we need to make it more accessible. Nothing revolutionary about the idea itself, but surprisingly complex when we think about how most people use the web (and computing devices in general). Substack and the blogosphere In an article titled Can Substack Recover the Blogosphere We...

In November 2022, after I had been keeping track and adding names to this slide for a few years already, we could boast about curl having run on 89 different operating systems and only one year later we celebrated having reached 100 operating systems. This time I am back with another update and I here … Continue...
The weather is gradually getting less conducive to airplane photography, so I'm spending more and more time working on Sky scraper.
Two platformers. Both have been on my radar for a time. One presented as an action-packed, high-octane, pixelated adventure; the other a logic-oriented, unassuming, gouache mystery. Both, though, put tools and the environment to heavy use._Yoku's Island Express_ has been on my wish list since it launched, and _Pepper...
Another hot Fall in Texas. No notable rain since June. Air-conditioning humming. Water bill up. Backyard is a dust bowl from the dogs tearing up all the grass. My schedule is a constant loop of kid activities; school, cheer, baseball, guitar, birthday parties, randomized school holidays, etc. I call it “The Luge”. A...
I was looking at the NFC standings yesterday, particularly the NFC North, the Chicago Bears’ division. The hated Packers are at the top of the division with a 4-1-1 record and a winning percentage of .750.
With the terrible Windows 11, and with the fiasco of EOLing Windows 10, we should remind ourselves that Microsoft was always a shady, nepo-baby company. Some of us know this story well, some not. But it's always nice to tell the abridged version, perfect around the 4th Guiness pint. IBM in their prime, were planning...
The geometrician teaches me how I may avoid losing any fraction of my estates, but what I really want to learn is how to lose the lot and still keep smiling.
Ahamkara: the ego machine This is my contribution to the Indieweb Carnival of October 2025, hosted by Bix Frankonis. The theme for this month is “ego”. As shocking and unpleasant as they are, major disruptions to life can sometimes serve to force us to change our perspective. I had obviously no desire or intention...
The NYT asked a number of people to share their favorite moments from Thomas Pynchon’s fiction. Yikes. I have so many. The problem is that not one of the greatest passages in his glorious body of work makes complete sense to out of its rich and densely-woven context. I’m gonna break the rules and choose […]
I've been working remotely (or living at my office) since lockdowns first started in March 2020. That's 5.5 years of remote work, and I'm thriving. I can stim, pet my cats, sit weirdly, or fart without worrying what anyone will think. It'
Dear reader,I have grown tired of websites blocking my access just because I use a VPN. Streaming sites are notorious for this, but this year, sites like Reddit and YouTube have joined in, which has made browsing feel miserable. You can try switching to a different VPN server (preferably from a different server...
Coffee is prime polymorphism example. Depending on the context it does different things. The different things are list worthy, therefore have been listed as under. This is a live list, maybe coffee does more things? Exploration continues. The classic: gives a boost of energy when running on steam. Also helps push...
A boatman, piloting his flat-bottomed boat with a long bamboo rod, returns downstream after dropping off his passengers. A couple enjoy the river from the shore. 長い竹竿で屋形船を操る船頭が下流へ向かう。岸辺から川遊びを楽しむカップル。
I haven’t written anything in four months. This period of prolonged silence is best explained by the unexpected difficulties of the business that I started in 2024, on the assumption that it must be possible to make an ethical, human-centered business on the basis of how incompetent the general market seemed. In...

Tender is the Flesh, TBR???Had a dream where we were kept inside a labyrinth building. It was dark. Grey walls. Lots of doors. Then a restaurant where the elite were eating human flesh to replace animals. Now I believe is the right moment to read this... is it? 😅🫡 #books #dreams Thank you for following my feed! ♥...

As I write, it is the late evening. I am getting ready to go to bed. The room is illuminated by fairy lights. I have been trying to go to bed at more reasonable hours of late, but I just saw the ten pointless facts about me blogging challenge and felt inspired to write something down before I go to sleep. I have...
22nd October 2025. Sheffield. “What’s new in Sheffield ?” ask folk heading over for one of the UK’s top pub crawls. Well, lots of new buildings, mainly food courts and flats, but not a lot of new pubs, outside the odd sports bar and a flashy European beer house, and this years two new entries… Continue reading NEW...
I am gradually importing my posts from my old blogs and making small changes to some of them. While I have a lot of poems and prose written there, I prefer to share those pieces on my future website instead. Thankfully, I can backdate my posts according to their original date and time of publication. I also added an...

The Trump administration has issued an update to the president’s recent proclamation about new visa fees, with implications for current international students and faculty. Last month, the Trump administration announced that new applications for H-1B visas will only be accepted if accompanied by a $100,000 payment,...
Jenn took us around town today. We checked out Downtown Lynchburg, visited Shep's office (where I did some identity work decades ago) and ended the night at the high school orchestra performance. +
American actor Ethan Hawke discusses forty years of work, from Explorers in 1985, through to Blue Moon this year, as part of the Vanity Fair Career Timeline series of videos. There’s not a lot what of Hawke does that feels like a run-of-the-mill movie. Dead Poets Society, and Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, for […]

Just some things that happened recently that aren't long enough to be a post by themselves. Getting FLAC music, taking care of my dog, and playing word puzzle games.
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. - Mother Teresa Several years ago, I participated in a community circle with twelve teenage boys and their teacher. The students had selected the topic for the day. They wanted to talk about fathers. We all sat in chairs, arranged in...
