When I'm searching for docs, 95% of the time a single example would suffice. Yet, 95% of the time I can't find one in any official source. It seems that by default formal technical documentation is targeted towards someone who's deeply immersed in the ecosystem. But many developers have to juggle a lot of "worlds"...
Except she thought, there wouldn't be semesters. Of poetry courses. Or any of the things that had made her life hers before the rocks fell. And then, almost as if he was there, Arjun's dissenting voice murmured in her mind, there will always be poetry. love you: she said to the hand terminal. I will always love you....
I can say that I saw the Black Sea and the Black River in the same lifetime.
Since version 4.0.0 of my modus-themes, users can override the palette of one or all the themes. They can change the applicable colours and how those are mapped to semantic elements. For example, “heading level 1” will apply to Org, Markdown, Info, and anything else that defines a relevant face. In principle, Modus...
The way we consume content on the internet is increasingly driven by walled-garden platforms and black-box feed algorithms. This shift is making our media diets miserable. Ironically, a solution to the problem predates algorithmic feeds, social media and other forms of informational junk food. It is called RSS...

One of the things I love most about blogging is that you can write about an explore an idea as it forms, without necessarily having a specific resolution or end state in mind. With that in mind, I wanted to document a line of thinking that has been on my mind for the last week: saying thank you as a primitive of the...
Two games for €4? Yes please! In this installment, I talk about two platformers---one of them a modern classic---that I picked up during a sale on the Nintendo Switch. The games each take a different approach to fail states.GRIS (2018)Nomada Studio's award-winning debut title deserves all of its accolades. I had...
A reflection on how commuting time can serve as a valuable mental transition from work to personal life, turning travel into a meaningful part of the day.
I spent most of the week in Jaipur. It was a bit hectic and hot, but it was a good week. I also had the opportunity to observe and learn a lot. Uma was warm on Sunday, but it developed into a proper fever and cough over the course of the week. It’s... The post Weekly Notes 39/2025 first appeared on Thejesh GN.
Weeknote #12, how deeply will you delve? Or will you put it back on the shel… ve? Life Notes As the end of summer wound down and we officially entered into autumn, the fam travelled to NJ to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday. It was nice getting everyone together and having some good hang-out time with my 3-year-old...
I have purchased and played (or read) visual novels on Steam. You can read my reviews of ACE Academy, Kaori After Story, and Return to Shironagasu Island, and LoveChoice for four examples. Setting those four aside, I have also discussed reading the Higurashi and Umineko series, all of which I originally purchased on...
Trying to keep the reading momentum going, by returning to a favorite series. Beware: while there’s less emphasis in drinking-to-get drunk, there’s still a lot of drinking; phonetic spelling to indicate class, background and education; rampant–almost free-for-all–cheating; problematic treatment of the...
Since my last post about this I have obtained a Leap Motion 1 and have experimented with it a whole bunch, and unfortunately, it’s just not quite there for what I need out of it.
A young man that goes by the name sombr (stylized in all lowercase) blew up enough to have his concert moved from Bogarts (capacity 1,500) to the Andrew J. Brady Music Center (capacity 4,500). + photos

I don't know why, but I just realised I haven't talked about music here in a while. Guess it's time to talk about music again! I'm just going to roll two completely unrelated things into one post, because well, that's what I feel like doing. Priest and Ozzy In July, Ozzy played his last ever show as a final goodbye...
Back in May, I wrote about a custom porteur bag that I sewed for use on my bike. That bag served me well on two trips - a solo ride up to Brewster and back, and my semi-yearly ride on the Empire State Trail, from Poughkeepsie to Brooklyn in two days. But I had a longer ride in the plans summer, which I just rode two...
Problem statement: Given a pod in Kubernetes, check its memory (RAM) usage. Stack Overflow: kubectl top pod -n {namespace} {pod name} [--containers] --containers=false: If present, print usage of containers within a pod. This only works if metrics server is installed (it should be!). There’s an alternative: kubectl...
My latest iteration in how I take notes on mobile is using the Notebook Navigator plugin and the Cupertino theme in Obsidian!
On Friday 27 September 2013, I posted a link to a short film I saw that day. The story still holds up twelve years on. Directed by Rod Blackhurst, Time Alone is about a young woman, Ann, portrayed by Rose Hemingway, who spends a weekend camping alone in a wilderness area. The horror of what […]
If you didn't like it, it's because you didn't use it. Now you can't.
DefectorMarks said he received threats from Schneiderman saying that if any financial harm came to Hill because of the court document, “his client will pursue all available remedies against me, my client, and my firm, and me, personally.” A second person on Hill’s legal team,
Hace unos días empecé a leerme The Orwell1 Diaries (Los diarios de Orwell). En la introducción del libro se menciona la siguiente página web: https://orwelldiaries.wordpress.com/ donde puedes encontrar los diarios, en inglés, para leer en línea y además tiene varias imágenes escaneadas de algunas páginas de los...
Meta recently unveiled their new, actually shipping this month, glasses that show you little apps on your eye. Their content is visible only to the wearer, can be read in broad daylight, and don’t look like ski goggles that isolate you from reality. They look like glasses and work like magic. You can attach a bunch...
Forgive me for the last few weeks of absence. I have been sick with pneumonia and have had some back back problems that have made it hard to sit at a computer for long periods of time. I am on the mend now and hope to be back to my normal self. Let’s get back to it. It’s been another active week in cybersecurity....
It's almost October, which means we're three quarters into 2025 already. Time dilation is real when you're getting older and a year becomes an increasingly smaller portion of your life. For 2025 I set some goals for myself, which you can read about in this post. Those goals are mostly related to running, health,...
New links… Intellectual jokes: good. Smart people jokes: not so good. — so says Linch Zhang, with some good examples of the former “A story about the absurd, immense power of the giving of reasons” — philosophy professor Jeffrey Kaplan tells a harrowing true story as part of an absolutely brilliant commencement...
