still don't know the root cause for that but recently I noticed that once again I'm knocking at creative block's wall. so this one might be shorter, but since this is a personal project where I decided that 'done is better than none', I will write a few words even if its structure get clunky. one good thing about...
Thinking about the time fuji instax nearly sponsored her work until they realized she was shooting their film on a Lomo camera and never got in touch again
Recently a local news station in Maine reported a story of some middle schoolers calling their friends with landline telephones. Their parents thought they were too young for cell phones and wanted to hold off on that aspect of reality, so they got an old phone from the 90s, and soon their friends also got phones....
A reflection on Eloi Youssef’s transformation from rock frontman to orchestral performer, and how life often finds harmony in unexpected moments.
Chris Ferdinandi has a homerolled version of Netlify with more control for less money, using Digital Ocean and ServerPilot.
Tigris uses Prometheus metrics for billing instead of events. This approach with asynchronous collection and handling of high cardinality issues actually benefits customers by potentially underbilling them. An interesting look at how to leverage observability tools for business operations.

A ramble about some issues I got with social media and some of its features
If you have some money saved up to buy books, I’d recommend getting physical copies of Grant Snider’s delightful collections of comics. I recently read the e-books of I Will Judge You By Your Bookshelf, The Shape of Ideas, The Art of Living, and Thinking About Thinking and wished repeatedly that I could hold the […]
Lately I've been noticing myself always seeking novelty. I'm re-styling this site. I switched from Gnome to Hyprland - and spent like 6 hours fiddling with configs and scripts to do so... I started learning how to draw pixel art. Etc etc I think - I'm hoping - it's a symptom that my plan to distance myself from...
In an ideal world subscribing to a website/blog’s RSS feed should be as simple as following a page on the socials. Simply click the follow button, and that’s it. In the case of, say, Instagram all future posts of whoever you started following will be visible — algorithms permitting — in the main/home feed. Of […]
It's taken longer to get this book out the door than the previous ones, but I'm excited to announce that Buried Memories, the fourth book in the Mia Graves Saga, is coming out December 15th! Like the previous entries in the series, you can pre-order the book on Kindle, as well as pre-order it in paperback from any...
Update: The charts below were inappropriately snapped, compressing the range of values. This has been corrected. Feature availability numbers also changed since drafting and are updated. In several recent posts, I've attempted to address how the structure of standards bodies, and their adjacent incubation venues,...
As you probably know, playing tennis competitively and doing creative work as an artist isn't a cheap thing to do! So, I decided to step out of my shell a bit and create a Ko-fi. There is no obligation for you to donate, but I'd sure appreciate it if you do! Every amount, no matter how small, can help me continue...
For screen recording, I find CleanShot X the best mac app. Given its ease, struggling to find a clean (hah) way to record a GIF and then effectively paste that right into a blog post, irked me. PNGs proved no problem but GIFs, no dice1. Until now. I present the haxx: cp "`print -rl $HOME/Library/Application\...
I genuinely don't understand the point of LinkedIn. Over the years I have embraced a number of social media style services. I've joined and left many platforms -- Remember Friends Reunited (2000), Bebo (2005), Google Wave/Buzz/+ (Changed its name many times), FaceBook, Twitter. I watched them start from nothing,...
As the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is getting closer and companies wanting to sell digital services in goods within the EU need to step up, tighten their procedures, improve their documentation and get control over their dependencies I feel it could be timely to remind everyone: We of course offer full support and...
Roshan: I read this tweet that talked about [[wikipedia:Dog whistle (politics)|the politics term "dog whistle"]] that made me rather curious. In school, we were taught to write long — because kids need to learn how to explain things clearly, even to someone who doesn’t care about the topic. But it seems some people never outgrew this. They think stuffing their opinions into multiple paragraphs — with headers, footnotes, and “just in case” context — makes...
This was the centerpiece of our trip — seeing this performance at this venue. The weather was uncooperative, but didn't detract from a solid set and an amazing venue. + photos! (none very good)
I get asked the titular question every time I pass with my dogs through the streets of the nearby village. Ever since I started walking the puppies, I try to frequent the built up areas to expose the young ones to people, noises, smells, and visuals that are not familiar to them. Dogs need to be socialised to...

We Malaysians have learned over the last few painful decades: you need to be united as a people to effect any effective change in your country.
I came across this post by @Jo , that captured a feeling I’ve had for a long time: “Fun internet Theory” states that there are still a lot of cool and interesting things to do online. This is a reference to the Dead Internet Theory, which states that the internet is invaded with bots and algorithmic slop.
