Localhost is treated as a trustworthy origin even without TLS, so all apps on localhost run in a secure context. This allows secure features to work in development. You can also run multiple apps on localhost with subdomains + ports to separate them. When you do need local HTTPS, use Caddy server.

Pellicola has served me well — both as a way to learn PHP by building a real-world application and as a platform for publishing my photos. But with a heavy heart, I've come to the realization that this humble bundle of mediocre code is ready for a well-deserved retirement.
Weiner: (Referring to Feynman’s journals) And so this represents the record of the day-to-day work. Feynman: I actually did the work on the paper. Weiner: That s right. It wasn’t a record of what you had done but it is the work. Feynman: It’s the doing it — it’s the scrap paper. Weiner: Well, the work was done in...
This month I took part in The Herds, a site specific, climate-action puppetry piece which saw a herd of beautifully made animal puppets migrate from the Congo Basin, to the Arctic Circle as they flee climate change. At every stop the company recruited a group of participants from their host city to join the herd,...
I haven’t always had a clear opinion on this question. Back when I worked in the real world or even further back when I was at school, laptops were really the best way to go. It’s hard to heft a desktop, monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the library on campus so you can write that paper that’s due at midnight. Obvious...

One of these mantras I keep repeating is how we in the curl project keep improving, keep polishing and keep tightening every bolt there is. No one can do everything right from day one, but given time and will we can over time get a lot of things lined up in neat and tidy lines. … Continue reading preparing for the...
There are few things more certain in life than hearing the familiar “Good morning!” from Tim Cook at the beginning of an Apple event. Going into today, rumours were pretty set on announcements for the Apple Watch, and the launch of a thinner iPhone Air. That’s what we ended up getting, but reading between the lines...
Carve space out for opportunity. After speaking in Kuala Lumpur last week, people stayed to discuss the topics we’d covered, forming a small group. Building community was a weighty topic during the event, with myself, host Shaza Hakim, and many attendees speaking to it. In this post-event semi-circle, Nik had probed...
'I suffer from a strong suspicion that things in general cannot be accounted for through any formula or set of formulae, and that any one philosophy, howsoever new, is no better than another. That is in itself a sort of philosophy, and I suspect it accordingly; but it has for me the merit of being the only one I can...
It happens very often with me that some quotation or topic from a particular book catches my eye, and I become eager to read that book. However, after a couple of days of trying hard to read it and blaming myself for not being able to do it, my limited knowledge of the topic forces me to give up. Here, I am...
I’ve been contemplating writing blogs in English for a while. I thought it was nice that Bear has a discovery feed, so why not optimize it to meet and share with more people in this community? My English isn’t particularly good; it’s a bit rusty since I don’t get to use it often. As I get older, it feels harder to...
Here are my weeknotes from September 2 to 8, 2025!
For today’s #Fotovorschlag, the theme is ‘Leading Lines’. One of the first photos that came to mind was a bridge I have visited multiple times — a structure that inspired my ongoing Alpine Bridge Collection.
just like Pokémon, people evolve. and while our evolution may not turn us from a small chick into a flaming fighting rooster, it happens every day in more subtle, but equally important, ways. however, this evolution is rarely automatic. It requires real, honest effort. looking back at my career, I've noticed a...
Six months ago, I offered to produce, mix, and master the debut album for a friend. One out of several good reasons to do so was selfish: use their project to complete a process of re-igniting my music production workflow, and rekindle with all the intrinsic mechanisms that are needed for a quality delivery. A...

A relatable story about forgetting a work phone, confronting the inconvenience, and discovering how tiny setbacks can sharpen resilience and lead to a surprisingly productive day.
I read an interview on the excellet Johto Times Pokémon site with “Blue Articuno,’ the creator of a Pokémon fan-site called Mount Moon. I liked one of the questions: You were one of the many kids who grew up with Pokémon from the very beginning, when it launched internationally back in 1998. What are some […]

Exponential increases in scope create only linear understanding in humans. When planning an event, a year ahead may seem far off. However, planning an event 5 years or 10 years ahead doesn’t feel 5x or 10x one year from now. We can’t comprehend the scope. Between 5 years and 10 years, there are five more years....
