What my musical listening habits tell you about me

Remove your Panasonic airconditioning unit from the Panasonic Cloud and connect it to Home Assistant to have full control of your heatpump locally, without using a cloud service. Requires some soldering and parts that are easy to acquire. Remove the CZ-TACG1 and put an ESP32-C3 in its place.

Since deciding to start a business, I am noticing that I am falling back into old ways.

Day 21: What kind of adventures have you had pursuing your hobbies? Probably the most fun I’ve had was when I was getting into geocaching. If you have never heard of it, it’s fun! Especially when the kiddos were a bit younger. Here is a link to get you started. But in any case, it got me into the habit of carrying...

To cap off the long weekend we went for a drive. There were many things that we had to get finished around the house, so there was no planning made for the weekend. Once we finished up the important things, I packed the kids into the car and asked them …

Sssh! Don't share this!! This is a secret post! Read more about RSS Club. I can’t lie, I have been wanting to join RSS club for a while, and David Bushell’s Mastodon post today (which I see Dave Rupert has subtly acknowledged ) has pushed me over the edge. The first rule of RSS Club is: you tell everyone about RSS...

I did some of what I wanted to do and completely missed on other things. This was a nice focus for the month.

Note: I'm still learning (a) Lua, (b) the API surface of Neovim and (c) how the different core components interact and work together, so this may not be the best solution, but it works for me and I've learned a lot digging in and putting it together. 3 good things I'm thankful for Finished the poem: “Unseen”, coming to a variety magazine near you. Had a poem published today by said magazine. Editor showed pity. Whipped out an article in record time this afternoon. A good one, too. Might even translate it. Of life and faith Today (Sunday), 46 years and counting...

August 3, 2025 I’m so sick of hyper-specialized, narrowly focused web presence. Give me weird. Give me personal. Talk about more than just “your focus.” I want to hear about music and art and what you’re reading and your hobbies and travels. Show me the real you. Make the web weird again! Chris Ferdinandi lstephens...

I’m sitting at Kings Avenue Tattoo in Massapequa, working on these notes while Amanda gets her sleeve finished. Her artist, Jasmine Wright, is in town for the week, and honestly, this setup couldn’t be more relaxing: big comfy chair, free Wi-Fi, AirPods in, music playing. I have nothing but praise for this shop,...

The first time I heard the phrase 'All Cops Are Bastards' in an activist context, it shocked me. I thought it was way out of line, a dangerous generalization that can only cause prejudice and hatred. Not at all the kind of attitude we need if we want to work towards a better society with more mutual understanding....
