Mostly rest time this week after months of intense stuff and travel. I admit it’s needed. At the same time, it serves to get reorganized. ¶ The saints in Bahia are united, hospitable, welcoming, warm, joyful. We like being with them. They’re among our favorite folk. ¶ A quote by Robert Marston: “No electronic...
Let F={f1,f2,f3,…} be a countable or perhaps larger set of atomic features; yes/no statements such as: f1: "private property is protected" f2: "banks may lend at interest" f3: "the state plans heavy industry" Such that each ideology can flip those switches on or off. We can then define an ism as a subset I⊆F purely...
I've had a kindle for a half a decade or so , but I don't tend to use it too much. I'd been meaning to jailbreak it for a while. Finally, I got round to giving it a go. I'd read that newer firmware versions couldn't be broken. Fortunately, mine had been sitting on a shelf for a while, on airplane mode. I charged it...
You probably heard the word globalization countless times. But these days, after decades of pursuing globalization, we're chasing deglobalization. A previously unpublished photograph from The Bride of the Sun As I try to pull myself out of my current bout of artistic block and resume work on my Acid Renaissance series, I think it’s worthwhile—if only for myself!—trying to put together a new explanation of what I’m trying to do with this series of artwork. This...
In October, the Netscape vs. Microsoft rivalry reached fever pitch when Netscape employees defaced an Internet Explorer logo that had been dumped on its lawn by Microsofties. In 1997, the World Wide Web finally went past 1 million websites — with over 120 million internet users. As the number of websites went up,...
Day 4, What woman in your family do you most admire and why? Thankfully, I’ve had a number of remarkable women in my life that I could look up to and admire. But, if I had to name one in particular, I’d say that I deeply admire my mom. She has been and continues to be a pillar of strength for me. Her dedication to...
