April 28, 2025 Patrick Rhone But your body, once it’s done, it’s done. So, it’s even more important to use and maintain it as well as you can, for as long as you can. Because it’s irreplaceable. So, put the best fuel (food) in it you can. Make sure that fuel is clean and high-quality (organic, sustainable, balanced,...
I just found out about this new locally-organized race in Cody, Wyoming, just outside of Yellowstone National Park, basically in my backyard (okay, it’s a five-hour drive, but as Wyoming distances go, that still counts as “my backyard”). I immediately signed up for the Olympic-distance race; they also have a...
This Week (and Previous Week) — Easter Means Renewal TL;DR:I try the new RuneScape, embark on a solo tabletop roleplaying adventure, update some pages on my blog, and craft some pixel art. This blog post has approximately 761 words and may take 4 minutes to read. {toc} Hello, everyone! Regardless if you celebrate or...

I’m not talking about skill, knowledge, or convincing a world focused on radical acceleration that optimization is necessary. Performance optimization is hard because it’s fundamentally a brute-force task, and there’s nothing you can do about it. This post is a bit of a rant on my frustrations with code...
For as long as I am writing my novel, I am someone else: who is the opposite of me and very much me, who is totally lost and hoping to be found, who is wrestling with their demons and seeking transcendence. In reality, he’s my doppelgänger, but in the world of fantasy, he’s all mine.Been reading Susannah Breslin for...
Write everything down. If there was one life lesson that I wish that I had learned earlier, it’s this. Write everything down. My memory is Swiss cheese and has been for years. I can remember the oddest things about history, but couldn’t tell you what I had for lunch yesterday. A trivial thing to remember, but my...
Podcast is the best medium for horror fiction If you ever watch horror movies, you know that the anticipation is scarier than the reveal. The scraping noise against the window beats the monster reveal on the terror factor every time. This is the mistake that bad horror movies make when they reveal their monster too...
