A brain dump as of Oct 1st, 2025 of my head, all things Claude Code. Keyboard shortcuts Shift+Tab to cycle through: “default” -> “⏵⏵ accept edits on” -> “⏸ plan mode on” “⏵⏵ Accept edits on” is a comfortable mode to be on by default, especially when paired with git commits as checkpoints. A well-curated tool...
But I am who I am and these two small very small really inconsequential things enrage me so here we are 1. When the Login link/button opens the login page...
September 2025. Bramley, Rotherham. Last year was the most exciting in the history of Rotherham, since the Chuckle Brothers met me at their Harperbury TV show set in 1998. Four (4) new GBG entries, all worthy, but only the posh golf club survives the churn. But the Autumn of GBG26 brings me back to Bramley,…...

October already, and both the Rev. Richard Coles and Bryan Appleyard have posted Robert Frost's 'October' on Facebook (great minds, etc.). The advance of autumn affects poets in different ways. Emily Brontë positively welcomes it, complete with its promise of winter to come –Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers,...
Looking up at the stage of Kiyomizu Temple. Shot on Kodak Ektar 100 film. 清水寺の舞台を見上げる。
If all goes well, I'm going to have some really interesting adventures down south! I'll be heading with my family to South Carolina, where there are two ITF tournaments to compete in. This is going to be a very exciting time, because I haven't played ITF (International Tennis Federation) tournaments in a couple of...
Went to the farmer's market and loaded up on carbs and pawpaws, which also have carbs.
I really love doing it myself. This has been the best blogging experience I’ve ever had. I too should have done it sooner. WordPress, and even Ghost to a lesser extent, was a waste of time. Link: https://markwrites.io/i-should-have-self-hosted-to-begin-with/
Why not write a walkthrough guide about the website you are visiting right now?

I’ve begun a new archiving project: republishing articles I wrote a long time ago, but that have since disappeared from the web or been mangled in some way (for example, the page design is outdated or the content is out of place with its new surroundings). I’m calling this activity “replanting” — because it feels...
For this entry, I have picked a song from the corpus of work of Nikolas Asimos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB4DSjbtrwU. It is about the personal struggle of a misfit who bears witness to the perceived misdeeds in their milieu yet is powerless to stop them. Nikolas Asimos was such a figure. A modern-day Cynic,...
Where do you like to write? Via Jason Kottke, I learned of a recent article in Wallpaper with photos of the favored writing spaces of a dozen authors longlisted for the 2025 Booker Prize. Some write outside on benches, some at desks, at least one at the kitchen table. How about you? In this post, I invite people to...
When I turned comments back on here a few months ago, after an absence of many years, I was amazed at how quickly spam comments began appearing. Good news travels fast it seems. A new outlet has appeared for us to post our drivel — quick — get over there. But because every comment made […]
Hey, someone has stolen September. Seriously, where did it actually go? I'm embarrassed to note that I only fired out three blog posts in the whole of September. I knew I was busy with life and work-type things, but honestly, I can't account for the entire 30 days. I demand a recount. There must be some days hidden...
It's The Weekly Measure for 2025 W40! Short and sweet since we're still in Blogtober!
Ya está disponible la versión definitiva de openSUSE Leap 16.0. La nueva versión mayor de esta distribución de GNU/Linux con soporte extendido y muchos cambios.
I decided to try building the game as a CLI/terminal app before shifting to the frontend/Elm parts of it. So I spent time writing out the game loop essentially. I modeled the game state first: type GameState = { gameStatus :: GameStatus , dictionary :: Set String , gameWords :: Tuple String String , lastPlayedWord...
I believe a good product needs clear and thorough documentation. I think shipping a quality product requires you to provide detailed and informative release notes. I try to live up to this in the curl project, and this is how we do it. Scripts are your friends Some of the scripts I use to maintain … Continue reading...
The BeatWhelp… I went and dropped $250 bucks on comics from here… Go support indie comic creators now! Tons of these are huge inspirations for what I hope to eventually be able to do with Foofaraw.
This'll be a bit of a controversial take and I may lose some of you, but hear me out: backing into parking spaces is potentially safer than pulling into them, and if you are able, you should opt into the former before the latter. Of course, there are caveats, but we'll get into that. I know what you're thinking:...
This essay is a reflection on the book The crisis of narration by Byung-Chul Han, read during the summer of 2025. All the quotes are from the book. Because we lack sufficiently strong communal narratives, our late modern societies are unstable. Without a shared narrative, the political, which makes shared action...
Better interest recommendations, reading history, reaction links, flags, and more.
It took me a while to understand what was extra-ordinary in this movie, and it was its simplicity. The story line is so ordinary that it might remind you just another story at the corner in semi-urban or rural society. Even my cousin's family has a similar story. This movie reminds me of my young cousin who died a...
Day three in the Black Forest brought a mix of misty mornings, challenging humidity, and expected rain on one of Baiersbronn’s certified Genießerpfade trails.
The aim of science is to illuminate the mysteries of nature and discover the elemental truths pulsating sublime and indifferent beneath the starry skin of the universe. The aim of art is to give us a language for wresting meaning from the truth and living with the mystery. Creativity in both is a style of noticing,...
I have a love-hate relationship with “the MVP car”, that classic illustration that shows us the RIGHT and WRONG way to build a product. To be fair, I don’t think its creator Henrik Kniberg would want it called “the MVP car” at all. According to his post the whole point of the illustration is to replace “MVP” with...
A reflection on the slower pace of life 20–30 years ago, and how it might offer valuable lessons in today’s fast-moving world.
