Applying concepts from Harmony 101 to explore a new instrument.
Well, this one was easy; the full digital discography of Cam Cole—or should I rather say, CAM something—is 50% off! That’s 17 releases for around 35 quid inluding VAT and a little additional contribution in my case! Thank you, Ted Lasso, for introducing me to this smashing blues rock Wonder Kid [sic]. Songs that Cam...
I've been suspecting neurodivergence in myself for some time now. My brain is very different to that of my peers or people in general I've met. It feels like running Linux in the world of macOS. Many of the core components and libraries are the same, but everything else is entirely different. The way you install...
My partner and I recently formulated a barometer for analyzing (guessing), how good another relationship is. It's not meant to be that serious or some kind of "if you don't have this, break up" type thing. But I think it's kind of neat. The bar is pretty simple: If the couple can publicly disagree about something...
— Hi, I’m Mateo Pérez — Hello, I’m Axel Valdez. I just got here yesterday — So, what do you do exactly? — I’m a UI designer, and I also do front-end code. Mostly HTML and CSS, but also some JavaScript, usually for interaction stuff — For how long have you been doing these things? — It’s been like... 15 years now....
Dear reader,My name is Eetu, and I wanted to create this post to give a brief introduction about myself and why I wanted to start this blog. I'm currently a university student but expect to graduate soon. During my university years, I studied humanities and journalism. I am passionate about privacy, technology, and...
I was poking around Thangs and found this neat Murderbot helmet. I am a huge fan of the books (currently on my 3rd read-through) and also loved the first season of the Apple TV+ series.Murderbot helmet by MysteryMakersGo check it out. I haven't started doing cosplay
My C++ reverb plugin is finally available for macOS, Windows, and Linux! Here's how I'm using JUCE's CMake API and GitHub actions to make that possible.
A post by Kev Quirk peaked my interest into what a great notetaking and todo system would look like. I’m currently using vikunja for tasks and mkdocs for notes, however, there are still things with the overall flow that I am missing. For example, there is no ability to create a task within a note. This might be...
I’ve seen some of my fellow bloggers talk about an August event called Blaugust. This is an event, supposedly happening every year, where bloggers try to write every day during the month of August. I did something similar on my own earlier this year, so I think this is something I can do. I know that it’s already...
The experiment illuminated what gave me joy ... and what didn't.
I hold a conspiracy theory the global economy died five years ago during Covid. It’s been on life support through stimulus checks and flash tech hype cycles ever since trying to keep the dormant heart beating. You sense it too. There’s no beating heart. There’s no thumping energy. No vein of excitement. Tech and...

Recently, I have been re-reading one of the classic books of Czech literature, Karel Čapek’s War with the Newts, and I have been intrigued by some of the parallels between Čapek’s newts and LLMs. Mind you, I am probably highly primed to associate and connect random things to LLMs given how much I read and talk about...
I’m excited to announce the Kyoto Tech Meetup: a weekly, early-morning coffee hang for anyone building software or hardware in Kyoto. Why mornings? Over years of co-organizing Founders Friday and Astoria Tech Meetup in NYC, I've found that a predictable slot on the calendar makes it easy to drop by without a major...
Often, in discussions about things deemed undesirable, someone will use an annoyingly popular trope. I call it 'the people's fallacy'. (Even though I secretly hate the trend of calling everything a fallacy. It has strong LessWrong and RationalWiki vibes. Anyway!) It usually goes something like this: Anne argues that...
