Just wanted to share a quick solution I realised about my relationship to "short form content". In general I do not consume (or at least try my best not to consume) short form / vertical videos. Too addictive, don't want to wastew the time on it. but.... There are a handful of creators who do thoughtful shortform...
It’s a good thing I have this format of posts, otherwise this blog may suffer from a lack of regular updates. I have a few drafts currently in the works, and I hope the slower pace of August will allow for some quality time for writing. Also, aren’t there way too many things happening at the same time? It’s hard to...
a selfie before the neurotoxicity set in I'm pulling down an old sagging ceiling this morning. I have to pause between each couple of planks. The dust is such a fine haze I can barely see across the little enclosed room. ... Permalink
How is your summer season going, folks? Recently I have been busy at work, but as part of that, I made huge progress in learning Go. Writing Go code is a pure joy, and I really regret that I have never dedicated myself to it before. It seems to be a perfect weapon for a web developer. It is a great language for...

I spoke at CSS Day, Middlesbrough Front End and Pixel Pioneers in three weeks and it was scary and wonderful, very similar to Brecht's experience! I had great conversations with people afterwards...
July 30, 2025 This afternoon I ordered a base model M4 MacBook Pro. I couldn’t pass up the deal. It’s available on Amazon for $1299 that’s $300 off.
I don’t have much life advice but I do know one thing: Always buy the $200 Yamaha guitar. If you’re thinking about it, do it. Talk to any guitarist you know who has been playing awhile and they’ll have a story about a $200 Yamaha and how good it sounds relative to the price. It’s with uncanny regularity I encounter...
One of my favorite things about small projects is the way their constraints can inspire unexpected solutions. You might expect a simple design to limit the room for creativity, but in my experience the opposite is often true. With this project I had the good fortune to stumble into a solution that 1) taught me...
