The Beauty of Nature

Franz Graf

My “career” in photography has started long ago and slowly but steadily. One of the triggers that ignited my passion was when my wife and me started to do more and more hiking. During those hikes we experienced so many epic vistas that I wanted to capture. The primary goal was to conserve memories for ourselves, family and friends. Especially for those who could not hike together with us. Joining Social Media platforms gave me an incredible boost in both, creativity and skills: I started to follow some professionals in the field, educated myself, learned through their YouTube channels and practiced, practiced, practiced. This quickly led to significantly better results which triggered more positive feedback. And the feedback motivated me even more to go out hiking in all kinds of weather and seasons .. a happy spiral was started. After a while I realized that I would never achieve the quality of professional landscapers who go out in inhumane times to grab one great shot. I tried – but it did not bring me satisfaction. I primarily go out for hiking, grab the photos during the tour and try to bring the whole hiking experience to the people following my journey.

What started as a planned 2023 bike & hike with video footage became a blog post nearly two years later. Only mistake: skipping a cooling stream, making the ride home very...

What started as a simple revisit to a summit we liked turned into an adventure we won’t forget. A wrong turn led us onto an overgrown path, once a vehicle track, now a struggle through thistles, fallen trees, and slippery slopes. We pushed through, doubting the decision, until ... well ..
*Abstract:** A day at Tegernsee with blackberries, poisonous belladonna, and meadows so dry they crunched underfoot. A little sweaty, a little longer than planned, but no rain and plenty of quiet moments to enjoy the trail.
A week in Franconian Switzerland—castles, caves, and quiet trails far from the crowds. No alpine climbs, just long, green hikes through lush forests and moss-lined valleys. Underrated, peaceful, and full of surprises. Here’s our trip in seven posts (and a few videos). If you love exploring without the tourist rush,...
Our last hike in the Franconian Switzerland took us from Pottenstein into the Püttlach Valley. Along the way, we discovered beaver dams, the Hollenberg ruins with a stunning panoramic view, and free-roaming goats - before rewarding ourselves with iced coffee at a local bakery.
A day of surprises in Franconian Switzerland: From hobbit-like beer cellars and a Jewish cemetery to Greifenstein Castle. Despite chilly winds and forgotten jackets, the hike delivered cherries, panoramic views, and a historic steam locomotive. A perfect blend of history and nature.
On day 4 we spent less time driving and more hiking! Starting from Gößweinstein, through lush forests, discovering a cave and walking along the river Wiesent. And some history on the way as well!
A day exploring Franconian Switzerland’s Rabenstein Castle, Sophien Cave, and Neideck Ruins—complete with a medieval festival, a guided cave tour, and surprising history lessons. From debunking myths about the Middle Ages to holding a sword, it was a mix of adventure, education, and stunning landscapes.
