Ffestiniog Prince. I think this is a Gem Kit. I bought it in the Portmadoc Station of the Ffestiniog Railway in about 1976 (they don't sell any kits these days - pity). The chassis is an Arnold 040 and has not run for years. Needs some tender loving care and a rebuild.

In October 2004 I visited the EXPONG exhibition in Swanley held by the Greenwich and District Narrow Gauge Railway Society (GDNGRS). The show is purely for narrow gauge model railways of all gauges and there were some excellent layouts there, many I had not seen before. Tucked away in a separate room down the...

I'm always thinking about accessibility when I'm building web sites - I know I don't get it completely right all the time! Quite often I come across situations off-line where a little thought about accessibility would have been helpful. Some bright spark decide that one of the urinals at work was not working...

I am drinking a cup of water from a bottle of sparkling mineral water from Wales. On the side is printed the following: Wild water from Wales? Brecon Carrig is wild in every sense. Conceived far out in the Atlantic, delivered by the west winds onto the Black Mountain deep within the Brecon Beacons National Park....

Just about every album I purchase these days has a track with an extra bit of music tacked on the end, usually the last track with a massive silent gap in between. Why do they do it? Is this meant to be some idea of a special hidden track? Or is it just meant to annoy people? I use iTunes to organise my music and...

I spotted a small piece on page three of our local free Paper, The Croydon Guardian - dated February 16 2005. "Apologies to our readers about last week's page 2. A production error meant that the previous week's stories were printed." The thing is, we didn't even notice...

A bunch of us went to the Royal Berkshire Shooting School for a morning of learning how to shoot stuff. I have not held a shotgun since I was 13 when my great Uncle and used to hunt the woods and fields in South East Kent. I only ever fired a shotgun on those trips a few times and only ever hit trees. My great uncle...

We went to see A Very Long Engagement at the cinema on Saturday night. I wasn't too happy about going as I really wanted to see Team America or the Meet the Fockers but Paula had invited our friends Des and Mary to go with us so I didn't get a chance to put my case for the other films. And in some ways I am pleased...

I have been toying with this one for well over a year now. I moved all my photos off this site and onto Pixagogo, a paid service with no limits to disk space - I'm already up to 3GB. One of the little features of Pixagogo is that I can show a random image from the gallery here as an image. Great thinks moi and...

I am at work. It's lunchtime so I have gone to our deli bar 3 floors down to get myself a new years resolution type salad. Fair due to our deli bar, they do try and put a bit of variety into the food and there is a good range and lately I have been having a very good couscous and chicken salad at lunch. Today when I...

Commercial users of Google have finally been given a way to reduce the amount of Blogs clogging up their search results. There were reports on the Register and Wired over a year ago suggesting that Google were thinking about taking blogs out of the search results because they were cluttering up the commercial...
