Kami's Corner
Kami
Hi! I'm Kami. She/Her, name written with capital K. People keep stylizing my name as starting with a lowercase k, and I'm not too sure why? I mean, i don't mind, i think it's fun. Anyways, I'm a trans girl working in webdev, primarily using php (the best programming language). I love reading mahnwa, playing videogames and reading cultivation novels of questionable quality. I have strong opinions about a lot of things that really don't matter (and some that do) and I'm using this blog to make that everyone else's problem. My favorite book is lord of the mysteries, my favorite movie is your name and my favorite music genre is folk punk.

Heya! So, i just saw herman's Resurfacing posts, and figured that now is as good a time as any to talk a bit about some of my favorite posts I've made on this blog. That last time I did this was... what, like 80+ posts ago, i think? So, some things have changed in the meantime, meaning that I've got more stuff to...
Heya! So, I've recently taken up the hobby of playing every mainline Final Fantasy game in order of release. Mainly, this is because I've played Final Fantasy 14 for... Oh god, 4700 hours already. So, it felt a bit silly to not know anything about the series of games its a part of. It's obviously not required to...
Heya! So, when i made the post announcing that i was hosting the bearblog carnival for this month a couple days back, i said I was gonna talk about my favorite PHP function names. So, here's that post! Now, before we get started, I want to talk about why I can even make a blogpost about this. Because, the reason I'm...
Heya! So, for the past couple days, it's been basically impossible to escape this hypothetical question: "Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only...
Heya! So, I'm hosting the bearblog carnival this month! Well, I was supposed to anyways. It's been four days into may now, and... Uh, I kind of forgot. But we're here now! So, the topic for this months carnival is "Your favorite ____ in your niche hobby" What do i mean by that? Well, I'm sure you're into at least...
Heya! So, the Gazette chose "The Dispossessed" by Ursula Le Guin for this months book club (well, last months technically, but the deadline is the 8th of this month). Anyways, as is tradition, I'm gonna review it here. So, first and foremost, did I like The Dispossessed? Is it a good book? Well, yes! I'd say it's...
Heya! So, I was originally going to make a post about Final Fantasy XIV, as i said last time, but I kind of got sidetracked, and started playing the new tomodachi life game. I'd never really played much of its predecessor. I owned a copy, but that was about it. Never got the appeal. I think I get it now though....
Heya! So, I got a new phone a couple weeks ago! After, what, like 3 years, I've upgraded to an Honor Magic8 Lite. Mainly because the battery on my old one was slowly dying, and the device generally just started feeling kind of sluggish. Honestly, probably the best improvement has been my internet and bluetooth...
Heya! I just saw this post from Jacob Varney about adding alt text to your stuff. And, while I agree with the notion of doing that, the method he shows is sadly also wrong, and won't meaningfully improve your sites accessibility. In markdown, to add alt text to your images, you do this: ![A description of your...
Heya! So, as you might know, I host and maintain guestbooks.kamiscorner.xyz, a guestbook service for indie web blogs (specifically bearblog ones, though it can be used on any website). Now, it's been a while since i initially started working on the thing, and it's been pretty stable for a good while now, so i...
Heya! So, let's say you wanna get rid of the upvote button on your blog for whatever reason? How would one go about doing that? Well, there's actually a couple different options, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Here we go: 1. make_discoverable This is the only way to completely get rid of the...
Heya! So, I've had both this blog and my personal website for quite a while now. Both are over a year old at this point. I think the personal website is more than three years? I don't quite know, actually. Anyways! I wanted to talk about easter eggs. Fun stuff you can find on my website, and on websites in general....
