WordPress PlaygroundWordPress released my.wordpress.net earlier this month and I only got round to testing it out. An in-browser WordPress sounds great for local testing and experimentation—great for tinkerers like me! I finally tested one of the latest WordPress theme from the IndieWeb wiki but unfortunately, I...

It’s my first time coming across another Chinese IndieWeb user! They are a digital art creator and blogs (in Simplified Chinese) about Japanese anime, art, and computer technology. V1sta made some IndieWeb 88x31 buttons and drew this IndieWebCamp (IWC) girl character/illustration with a FOSS program called Drawpile....

After discovering TiddlyWiki from @jbaty, I went ahead to give FeatherWiki (a lightweight version of TW) a spin as a personal brain-dump bin. I really like how it’s just a lightweight, 58kb HTML file! I used it on Android but failed to get it working due to Android Storage Access Framework (SAF) limitations. I ended...

Blogging ItchesAlthough I’ve been exclusively blogging with Hugo on BurgeonLab in the past four months (largely putting my first blog, Eclectic Passions and photography project on the back burner); I have been getting an itch to: Check out a new CMS, Astro Investigate a static Wiki generator like FeatherWiki (a...

A few months ago, @joelchrono asked me to collaborate on a post he was working on which involved sharing a game one would bring to a desert island. I realized I never cross-posted the submission on my own blog; so here’s a copy of it: Given a desert‑island scenario, I’d probably escape reality by revisiting fond...

BackgroundNavigation menus, like top nav bars and footer menus, typically add an active CSS class to the current page’s link, providing visual feedback and highlights the page you’re currently on. This is a common user experience (UX) feature. Although I have noticed this feature while browsing, I didn’t know it was...

F1 Shanghai RaceAs a long time Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes fan (especially Toto), seeing the podium last weekend was amazing. I’m thrilled and delighted for Lewis finally getting his first Ferrari podium. Enjoyed Kimi getting his first win too. As it stands, I think the most probable first F1 race I attend in person...

I haven’t used Indiekit to post anything recently! Quick update on the blog: I’ve been busy working on my new Hugo theme redesign—learnt to use Git branches, forked the Anubis2 theme code so I could squash unused/overriding CSS rules, trying to redesign the theme to make it more a11y-friendly, etc. I think I’ll miss...

Contributing to Collaborative ProjectsDuring the HWC: Pacific event last week, Reilly mentioned a blogger called Molly White who writes about technology. I saw her photo and realized I watched her getting started guide on Wikipedia in the past—something I’ve parked on my “someday/maybe” list. Having joined the...

Plumbing AchievementLast week, I tacked a leaking pull-out/sprayer-style kitchen tap at home. The cartridge/handle area had been leaking slightly for some time; but it got significantly worse last week when the handle stopped working altogether (couldn’t turn the tap off—luckily we had isolation valves beneath the...
