I read an interview on the excellet Johto Times Pokémon site with “Blue Articuno,’ the creator of a Pokémon fan-site called Mount Moon. I liked one of the questions: You were one of the many kids who grew up with Pokémon from the very beginning, when it launched internationally back in 1998. What are some […]
On September 2, 2025, the New York Post reported that longshot New York City Mayoral candidate Jim Walden suspended his campaign. As a result of the suspension, Mr. Walden will have to pay back more than $2.3 million in public matching funds. Setting aside questions about why New York City believes my tax money...
I mailed issue 244 of The Newsletter Leaf Journal. I use Roman numerals in newsletter titles and try to add something clever. Newsletter 244 is: Newsletter Leaf Journal CXLIV 〜 54-hole week. I think this is one of more clever ones. The joke combines the Roman numerals, a sport (spoiler) reference, and the fact that...
I published an article on The New Leaf Journal about how the 2024-25 Miami Heat had the worst win-loss record (37-45) of any team to make the NBA Playoffs in the 16-team playoff era (beginning in 1983-84) with a positive net rating (N.A. Ferrell at NLJ, March 22, 2025). In short, the Heat actually outscored their...
From the beginning of a September 3, 2025 report in Tea & Coffee Trade Journal: Death Wish Coffee Co. has brought back its limited edition and seasonal best seller pumpkin chai. First flavored seltzer, now coffee. Is dramatic life or death marketing for otherwise innocuous drinks the new trend? It seems like it is...
Dorde P reported for Automation West that the remake of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, is receiving a simultaneous global release on September 19 [Source: Automation West]. The report notes that this is Nihon Famicon’s “first simultaneous global release in the [long-running] Trails series” (consider this fact...
From a report on KRON4 by Alex Baker (September 1, 2025): Speaking to The Logan Bartlett Show on Friday, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said the use of AI agents had enabled him to “rebalance” his headcount in the customer support division by trimming 4,000 jobs. This sounds like an exciting time for Salesforce! I was […]
I am going to a wedding tomorrow. This is the first time I am going to a wedding. Moreover, I will be a groomsman at the wedding. The presumptive groom decided that we would all wear tuxedos from The Black Tux. I went to Williamsburg for the fitting back on May 4, 2025, which ended […]
I read about the Fire Toolbox utility for “debloating” and customizing Amazon Fire Tablets. That inspired me to buy a cheap ($35-40) Fiire 11 tablet from 2021 on Woot back in April or May. I finally got around to using it. Unfortunately, because of updates, some of the Toolbox’s utilities like setting a custom...
I wrote a New Leaf Journal Article several years ago praising Nintendo for having a cartridge-first mindset with the Switch. Nintendo’s emphasis on cartridges has waned with the release of the Switch 2, which has introduced game “key-cards,” which are good for nothing more than downloading the game in question. This...
I would have ordinarily passed over a report about Keurig Dr. Pepper acquiring JDE Peet’s. However, I decided to open the link since I just recently posted here about Peet’s becoming the coffee provider for Southwest Airlines. I noted in my own post that I had never opted to use my free Southwest Airlines drink […]
I saw an Anime News Network article titled Samurai Pizza Cats Anime Inspires New Comic Series in my feed reader. That brought back memories. I have watched many anime, evinced by my having been able to put together a list of recommended series from 2011-2020 for general audiences and anime year-end reviews in 2021,...
