Anime News Network reports that “The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie, the compilation film of the television anime … will get a theatrical elease in the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and additional Central American territories, among more areas.” The film will debut in Japan on February...
Over on Brain Baking, Wouter Groeneveld offered a critique of the thumbs up reaction emoji, noting correctly that it is an at best ambiguous response to substantive messages. I largely agree with his general critique of emojis and emoji reactions: “Instead of adding context, by, you know, using words, like these,...
From a November 4, 2025 CNBC report: Perplexity AI accused Amazon of “bullying” on Tuesday after it received a letter from the e-commerce giant demanding it prevent people from using its artificial intelligence browser Comet to make purchases on their behalf. I do not often agree with Amazon on these sorts of...
The New York Post reported on what it believes are the five front-runners to be the next New York City schools chancellor. The article leads with the most well-known name of the bunch, Jamal Bowman, whose accomplishments include running a New York City school without a license and, while in Congress, pulling a fire...
I was going through my Miniflux feed items this morning when I saw a Phoronix headline: The Linux Kernel Looks To “Bite The Bullet” In Enabling Microsoft C Extensions. “I’m done with Linux now!” But where to go? At first I was thinking BSD but then I decided that BSD is too normie for me. About to wipe […]
I use a NETGEAR WAX 202 router running OpenWrt as my wireless access point. Unlike my router (MikroTik hAP ac3 running MikroTik’s RouterOS), it does not update automatically (I configured a script for the router after having previously upgraded it the old-fashioned way). I forgot about AP updates for some time....
Back in May I published a NLJ article titled Failing to Try Airport Illy Coffee Vending Machine. While researching the Illy vending machines, I came across a website called Vending Connection. Being a fan of vending machines, I added Vending Connection to my feed collection. Just yesterday (November 7), I read a new...
Beginning in 2001 and running through the end of my tenure in high school (at least), I regularly watched ESPN. I still watched it at times through 2015 or 16 or so, which when I last had Cable/Sling TV. ESPN has changed a bit since then, as evinced by a new Morning Brew report titled ESPN […]
According to Joseph Burns writing for City Journal, “while the final tallies [in the 2025 NYC Mayoral election] identified Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa as the losers, the name of the real loser didn’t even appear on the ballot: Governor Kathy Hochul.” While Ms. Hochul is likely less than enthusiastic about running...
The Arduboy is a rare example of an open source video game console. The company just announced that it is releasing a new model in December 2025 with USB-C and link cable (how nostalgic!) support. I find this intriguing. However, I bought an Arduboy about a year ago and have not really used it yet. […]
AlternativeTo reports that Mullvad VPN is shutting down Leta, its soon-to-be-former privacy-centric Google Search proxy, on November 27, 2025. I have been a Mullvad customer since 2021 of 2022. I recall noting when Leta was launched and trying it, but I was never too impressed with how it displayed results (setting...
The Times of London found itself in an awkward journalistic situation when it printed an article featuring fictitious quotes by former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. Time Times of London explained the error as follows, according to the New York Post: The Times has apologized to Bill de Blasio and removed the...
