Replied to Linkfest #35: Diasimocracy, Four Loko Collectors, and What It's Like To Survive A Grizzly Attack by Clive Thompson (The Linkfest) I live next to the Gowanus Canal, a phantasmagorically polluted industrial waterway in Brooklyn. Touching it with your bare hand would give you, like, syphilis or something. I...

Quoted Inflatable Easter Bunny in Columbia Street Waterfront District (2026) by Nicholas A. Ferrell (The New Leaf Journal) I went on the hunt for a new inflatable Easter decoration to share. I found one in neighboring Columbia Street Waterfront District, this one being about a one minute walk from the foot of the...
Quoted Penelope, the Bronx Zoo Platypus That “Faked” a Pregnancy and Then Disappeared by Ellen Gutoskey (Mental Floss) Penelope came to the U.S. from her native Australia in April 1947 with two other platypuses, Cecil (a male) and Betty Hutton (a female). The news made headlines across the nation: It was only the...
Quoted More Classic Capcom Titles Have Arrived On Steam, But, Of Course, There's A Catch by Jack Yarwood (timeextension.com) [T]hese new releases are simply reissues of the GOG versions we've seen published over the past two years. However, they are already proving divisive with members of the gaming community. This...
Yesterday I shared Discover more of the Fediverse with tags.pub in my Pook-Emu Bee links for the day. The post introduces a new feature for the ActivityPub for WordPress plugin: Subscribing a site to the tags.pub relay for hashtag boosting. It provides the following instructions for self-hosted WordPress sites such...
Quoted Takopi's Original Sin [Anime Review] by Cabbage (Cabbage Sorter) This anime feels bait-y. Something about the families and the abuse being suffered, it's too clean and clinical feeling, the abusive parents are too perfectly cruel, all of them being hateable. I was also frustrated by the lack of intervention...
