Britt Coxon
Hi, I’m Britt Coxon (she/her or they/them). I’m a multidisciplinary visual artist based in North East England, making things for web and print. Things I do include painting illustration, graphic design, websites, papercraft, music, photography, comics and zines. My work has a collaborative and communication focus, often resulting from workshops, consultations with educators or interactions with the public. My work explores communication, mental health, self-empowerment, community and understanding. I love working both digitally and with pen and paper, the most satisfying part of my work is being able to combine analogue and digital in interesting ways to create something unique.

I have been holding on to some of these links for a while. December was a busy month and I needed most of January to be introverted. Let’s see what’s still relevant. Reading The Harvest Will Come by Joan Westenberg. This is from over a month ago, whoops. I read this essay just after writing my contribution to the...
Back in October Zachary Kai resurrected the IndieWeb Book Club, choosing The Creative Act by Rick Rubin. I warned Zachary at the time that I’m a slow reader and it may take me a while to respond. With that sorted I started reading. I didn’t exactly get on with the book. It wasn’t written for me, Rick Rubin’s book...
Also known as: bonus 2025 Sketchbook Highlights. Recently I’ve been on a classic anime hunt. This led me to Outlaw Star, it often played in proximity to Cowboy Bebop on Toonami in the UK but I never really got into it at the time. It’s definitely one those shows that suffers from changes in art style between...
One day I will learn to share a sketchbook as I fill it. One day. Today is not that day, the last five years have mostly not been that day. So here’s five years of interesting sketches all at once. Maybe 2026 will be the year I share as I make. #sixfanarts challenge from 2020. It’s Berna, one of my D&D characters. I...
It has become apparent that these links are not of the week or month but whenever I have the need to share. So here we go. Otherworldly Photos of Forests by Michelle Blancke Explore Mysticism and Transformation via Colossal. Just beautiful photographs of forests. Makes me want to go out and gently squish some moss...
Another month passes. The season changes. Each season brings its own challenges but Winter feels the hardest for me. The shortest day, the Winter Solstice is just under a month away. Today sunrise was at 07:57 and sunset was at 15:48. That’s 7 hours and 51 minutes of daylight. I spent most of those hours inside. As...
I recently made a post titled second person birds. It was a bit of an experiment, focusing a lot more on photography than I had on my blog in some time. I enjoyed it so much that I took some of the photos there, added some more and made a zine! This little zine is […]
I recently took part in Helix Arts Artists Agency: Make It Happen programme. Six workshops on participatory arts, covering project drivers, planning, budgeting, risk management, safeguarding, marketing, fundraising and monitoring. I’ve been given some fantastic support and am now on the look out for a friendly group...
I’ve been making a lot of mini foldy zines recently. Some of them are me revisiting old zines, some are new. My next job is to get them all listed in my shop. Slight tangent, but speaking of shops, if you prefer to use a marketplace type place instead of my cool little independent shop, […]
I thought for a long time about this one. With only one day to go, here’s my submission for this month’s IndieWeb Carnival. The topic is second person birds, as chosen by Sophia. I love the non specific nature of this topic, it’s also what makes it a bit of a challenge to respond to. […]
More bookmarks of interesting things I saw this week, or remembered that I’d previously bookmarked this week. There is an upright piano in our back lane. Probably there to be taken away with the bins but I get the feeling it’s going to disappear into someone’s van before then. Someone will want a project. A […]
Week? Month? Some other, unspecified amount of time? I collect a lot of bookmarks but often don’t do anything with them after that. In an attempt to remedy this I’m going to start sharing interesting bookmarks on a somewhat regular basis. I am also going to attempt to collect them together in a useful way […]
