I write about my technical adventures, such as developing my own blogging software, and other topics that interest me as a software developer. However, I also enjoy documenting my life, from bike tours to everyday moments that I want to share.

I usually do my bike tours after work or on the weekend during the day. Yesterday, I did it in the evening. It was very nice, and some views (sadly, the camera on my bike phone isn’t that great) felt quite epic. I also managed to drink enough carbohydrates to not feel weak, but unfortunately it made me sleep badly...
Today I took my camera again and tried some other motives in nature. This swan was one of them. I activated RAW images and tried to do some lite editing, first with Darktable, but then I chose RawTherapee, as that tries to adjust the settings to match the camera style. There’s so much to learn. I feel so overwhelmed...
I bought a new (used) camera on eBay. A Panasonic LUMIX G91 (also known as G90 or G95) with the LUMIX 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 lense. I took it for a short walk around the block and quite like the results so far, but I definitely have to get more practice and confidence with real cameras. The camera was sold for a pretty...
I will mostly post about the places we visited on our honeymoon on the German part of this blog, but for you to enjoy, here are the photos from the first post. 🏞️ Interactions & Comments
While I mainly used the PDF reader integrated into Firefox on Android to view PDFs on my phone so far, I now have a new favorite PDF reader. What bugged me about the reader in Firefox was especially the performance when viewing big PDFs like newspapers. It always took a second or so to rerender when zooming or going...
And here we go again; another month has flown by. July was a particularly eventful month for me and my wife. The first half of the month was filled with preparations for the wedding, in addition to the usual annual tax return: ordering bouquets, final confirmations with the service providers, and spontaneously...
The second part with the free wedding ceremony is now also finished. It was such a nice day, thanks to everyone who was there, helped, and made this day the best day in our lives! Cheers on our love and now also our marriage! 🥂♥️ Interactions & Comments
I have a use case where I need to copy files from Nextcloud to S3 storage using my phone, and I think I finally found the perfect apps for this. While I use rclone on my PC, I wasn’t aware of any app for this on Android. But there actually is some: RSAF (available on GitHub or F-Droid). It uses rclone and provides...
It’s official, we’re married! 💍 Part 1 is finished, second part on Saturday. 👰♀️🤵♂️ Interactions & Comments
Some time ago I resubscribed to Komoot Premium using some tricks to get it cheaper. But I don’t use Komoot to track my rides or even manage them there (OsmAnd is still my favorite app for that!); I just use it to plan them, especially on the PC. The biggest advantage: It suggests to me places I haven’t seen before,...
And here we are again, another half year has passed. Time to take a quick look back at my June. Well, not much actually happened … There was my trip to the office. I was in Schwäbisch Hall for a few days for the planning workshop that takes place every few months, where we discuss the topics for the next release. I...
Some time ago I posted about my experience blocking one country and some ASNs directly via iptables from my mail server. It seems like there’s an even better source of IPs and networks to block. The Spamhaus “Don’t Route Or Peer Lists (DROP)” lists. Currently my mail setup is configured to block everything from...
