I live in Columbus, Ohio and am a dad of 2 kids, 2 dogs and a cat. I’ve been making stuff on computers since the early 2000s, beginning with the Atari 400 (way after their prime), which led to writing C on Palm Pilots and finally coding on Mac. These days I work in management, but still enjoy coding websites and apps by hand in my (limited) free time. I’m also an avid cyclists, hiker and enjoyer of retro video games. I run a small consulting company called Darn Fine Software and the Columbus Vintage Computing Club.

I’ve never been great at dealing with stress. I have a tendency to overthink, assume the worst and constantly worry, it’s a great combination! This summer has been the most stressful of my life. My sleep has been terrible, I often feel...
Finished reading: Gate of the Feral Gods by Matt Dinniman 📚 This one had a fun concept and intense ending, really enjoyed it. The peak outside of the dungeon in the last few pages was very cool.
Test shots with the new lens! Not a whole lot to shoot around the coworking spot today, but I love this new lens and editing workflow on the iPad. The lens is the Sony FE 40mm F/2.5 G with my Sony AIV body.
After my last post, I pulled the trigger and went with an iPad Pro 11” with Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard case. Thankfully I got it the night before the massive Apple price hikes (although it still cost way too much). I gotta say,...
I was watching Byte Review’s recent video on getting the most out of your iPad, which got me to dig out my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9”. It’s been awhile since I’ve used this device, and honestly I never did much more with it than turning it into...
Hope all the dad’s out there had a great Father’s Day today! I’ve spent my Father’s Day weekend doing the most dad things I could think of: teaching my kid to fish, wrenching on some bikes, taking the kid to an airshow and fixing stuff...
The London Ohio Strawberry Tour has been on my radar for years. Yesterday I finally got a chance to participate! I opted for the 44 mile route as I’m not nearly as in-shape as previous years. It was a really nice, mostly flat ride. The...
I took a much needed day off yesterday and spent time outside. The day started with processing photos and posting the photos for day 8. After I drove out to one of my favorite small towns and grabbed a sandwich that a small deli....
Spider warning! Had some time with the wife away from the kids this weekend that allowed us to go hiking! Don’t fall off little guy! I think my ISO was cranked up, unforutnately a lot of the photos turned out grainy. This guy was so...
Thought I would try something different for this entry! Each of these photos were taken with my Gameboy Camera attached to an Analogue Pocket (since it allows easy exporting). I’ve had this cartridge since I was a kid (I included 2...
I relate a lot to Herman’s recent post, in more ways then one. His thoughts on travel are very similar to mine, and the fact that he’s writing from Kyoto is even better. You see, I spent a semester studying in Japan 14 years ago (good...
I stumbled across Matt’s work via a post on Tildes. His “manifesto for small software” describes how he has targeted building applications that could fit on a 1.44 MB floppy disk. Most of his apps are either Mac OS or iOS, which honestly...
Over the winter I was super into Palm Pilots, I even picked up a few new ones and swapped the batteries. My current collection includes a Tungsten E, Tungsten T3, Tungsten C and a Handspring Visor. I was daily driving the C for quite...
