I'm Sal, and this is my spot. I'm a middle-aged guy with a wife, kids, and a job. Isn't that exciting?? I've had several blogs over the years and have enjoyed all of them. With each iteration, I lower my ambitions, take it less seriously, and try to have more fun. This one is another step in all of those directions, and I'm hoping it sticks around the longest. Disclaimer: I tend to write in short timeboxes and following the 70% rule. If a post seems shallow or half-baked ... yep!

Cheers to Robb and his post, Back to Alfred, for validating my own journey from Alfred to Raycast and back again. I went back to Alfred about a year and a half ago, and I haven't missed Raycast one bit. Nothing against Raycast. Just...

Well, Vim mode is back on. And, disclaimer: pretty much the only reason I'm writing this is to test out blog writing with Zed's Vim mode. I'm at the end of a long day and am not sure I can put coherent sentences together. So, dear...

I’m a bike commuter. I’m lightly ashamed to admit that I get a wee bit of pleasure when, in the depths of rush hour, I cruise past a big ol' line of cars stuck in traffic. Or maybe two wee bits.
Thanks to Kottke for sharing this article from The Register: Why AI writing is so generic, boring, and dangerous: Semantic ablation. The article, which is not long and you should go read right now, explains something I’ve felt but...
Dear reader Martin emailed me to chat about my hasty blog-drafts post and ask for some more details. So, everybody, if you don’t care for this post, blame Martin. 😁 My prior blogging workflow looked something like this: work.computer >...
Following Andrea, Manu, Kev, Carl, Steve, and probably many more.... I try to keep it mostly positive here, but I’ll bite. 😁 When people DM me at work, “Hi Sal,” and then start typing the rest of their thought while I sit there,...
I’m not sure where I should be writing and keeping blog drafts. I’m writing this in iA Writer, which I quite like. I’ve got a Blog Drafts folder there. That’s where these words are being saved to. Most of my blog content lives over in my...
Man I want to write some dang blog posts. A lot has happened since my last one! But I just haven’t made the time. Here’s some of the stuff I’d love to write more words about: After seeing it mentioned in another blog, I tried Tot for...
I'm writing these words remotely via SSH using Zed's remote development feature. It's pretty cool. Why bother? As I mentioned before, I removed my personal notes from my work laptop and now access them remotely by SSHing into my home...
I love taking recipe notes. But which system to use? I'm a big fan of using some sort of personal notes system for recipes, primarily for three reasons: First, I want a place to keep track of recipes I’ve made for posterity, especially...

I've been meaning to write a post about unseen manager work. But I don't have the energy to do that right now because it's been consumed by today's unseen manager work. 😅 Delivering critical performance reviews, informing people they're...
