This afternoon, somehow I found myself reading an article titled, “I Deleted My Second Brain,” something I didn’t need to do because I’m not on the second-brain, efficient note-taking for productivity and creativity and everything-in-your-life-will-be-fine-if-you-figure-out-the-perfect-note-taking-system boat. After...
Krishna Kumar keeps stunning me with observations I’ve made all my life and experienced as a child but never deeply looked back upon after learning so much about children and education. Here’s an excerpt from a chapter on writing from The Child’s Language and the Teacher: A Handbook (emphasis mine): It is a common...
On his Tumblr, Austin Kleon shared some excerpts from this article by Ted Hope, who wrote: “If you make films, it is your responsibility to help others discover what is good to watch. If you love films — or a particular type of film — it is your responsibility to help others learn to appreciate […]
I’m in Chhattisgarh for field practice until mid-December. The last time she […]

Sometimes, I cannot work without a list, such as when writing craft articles. Sometimes, I use lists based on notes taken elsewhere, brief bullets no longer than a few words, then […]
Almost all my notebooks come with pages at the front in which I note down basic identification information: name, phone number, email, address, blood group, emergency contact (always my mother). On the first blank page, I write a quote that summarizes the state of my mind or my hopes for the days to come or […]
I’ve been listening to the audiobook of Sarah Beth Durst’s The Spellshop–a delightful cozy fantasy about a librarian who returns to her home island after being away since childhood and stars a, well, spellshop–and brainstorming ideas for similar (short) stories I could write, except they won’t have any Western...
If you have some money saved up to buy books, I’d recommend getting physical copies of Grant Snider’s delightful collections of comics. I recently read the e-books of I Will Judge You By Your Bookshelf, The Shape of Ideas, The Art of Living, and Thinking About Thinking and wished repeatedly that I could hold the […]
