This is my show. It’s a blog as hupomnemata. Michael Foucault defined hupomnemata as a personal notebook similar to a spiritual journal but with a different goal. He did not want “to pursue the unspeakable, nor to reveal the hidden, nor to say the unsaid [like a spiritual journal does], but on the contrary to capture the already said, to collect what one has managed to hear or read, and for a purpose that is nothing less than the shaping of the self.”

Cultural systems — religions, constitutions, philosophical traditions, ideological movements, scientific paradigms, informal cultural artifacts — share a structural property worth naming directly. Each maintains a relationship between a nominal core and an evolving operational practice. The relationship’s stability...
László Polgár’s experiment worked. That’s the problem. He raised three daughters to be chess grandmasters through intensive early specialization, and all three became exceptional players. Judit became the strongest female chess player in history. At 15 years and 4 months, she broke Bobby Fischer’s record to become...
I. What the Numbers Actually Show On April 28, 2026, a satellite captured black smoke rolling across Tuapse, a Black Sea port city in Russia’s Krasnodar region. The smoke came from an oil terminal that Ukrainian drones had struck four times in two weeks. Similar imagery appeared over a refinery in Perm and an...
Who this is for: Anyone who feels unseen, unappreciated, or like they’re doing emotional labor that isn’t reciprocated—even in relationships that look “good” from the outside. Useful for romantic partnerships, family, close friendships, and even work relationships. Important disclaimer: This is not therapy. If...
Every measurement shortcut follows a recognizable sequence. First comes the exciting phase: a new tool produces results at a scale and speed impossible with previous methods. Papers accumulate. Discoveries multiply. Funding follows. Careers are built on throughput. The shortcut becomes normal before its failure...
You’ve probably heard you should take magnesium. This guide explains what it does, whether you need it, and how to make a sensible choice — rather than just buying whatever’s at the pharmacy. The Short Version For most reasonably healthy adults who eat a typical Western diet and want better sleep or general...
Triadic care is not being deployed into medicine. It is being deployed into the definition of medicine — and the two are not the same intervention, on the same timeline, with the same remedies. Here is the scenario that closes the governance window: a physician working a rural urgent care shift sees a patient with...
I. Tide Sleeping, breath rolls in waves, surf on the shore of dreams.Moon hauls the dreamer’s water, phase by phase;kelp-dark thought uncoils, opens like a palm. Thought-flotsam the shore collects, wrack from teeming verdant life. The dreamer buries treasure;the woken mind finds a chest—jinni, genius, jest—Ozymandias...
There’s a debate that’s been running on the internet for nearly two decades: when someone gets harassed or hurt online, whose fault is it? The platform’s? The creator who posted the content? The person who chose to read it? This essay argues that the debate itself is the problem — and that keeping it going actually...
The claim that public discourse operates as a marketplace of ideas — where truth and falsehood compete on equal terms, and the better argument wins — has never described how mass public discourse actually works. John Stuart Mill’s On Liberty imagined the competition occurring among individuals with roughly equal...
